I've had this phone since new, but I now find the battery doesn't last even a day, and memory keeps running out. Any hints on how to extend the battery life? Or do I just need to buy a new phone

Solution: debloat, do not update, or sideload a custom rom. Im still using mine in 2021ands its still a solid performer.

How to fix low memory caused by cache filling up real quick?
And is there some new midrange phone that can replace the a5 2017?

I know this phone is old, and its memory is not really enough for 2021, but I have serious memory issue. The Google app, Instagram, Google play services and a couple of more apps take so much space of my internal memory. It is their cache that eats up a lot of my memory. No matter how many times I clean their caches, they get filled up again pretty fast and I end up with 500MB or less memory every couple of days or every week. Do you have any idea how to fix this?
Also is there some new midrange phone nowadays that has similar characteristics as a5 2017 and can replace it?

The phones still holding up. I have sideloaded a pixel experience rom on it and it works fantastic. Very responsive

I bought this phone in 2017 when I needed a new phone for my second year of university. I thought it was really expensive back then, but it turned out to be a good investment because I'm still using it daily in 2021! I have dropped it a bunch of times, but the Gorilla Glass is holding up. It hasn't slowed down and it gets regular Samsung updates. It can run Pokemon Go. I like to connect it to a wireless keyboard through Bluetooth to take Google Drive notes during class because I hate hauling around laptops. I'm glad I tried Samsung!

i'm using this phone with care and still great phone with no issues, good speed, beautiful metal construction. i have received Nov 20 update. Anyone tell me about Dec 20 update still not received .... overall good experience
