Also check your setting on the phone.
And make sure you are slot correctly, push in the SIM card but no force.
Either the alignment error or phone gold contact.

A8 is just below Note 4.
I suspect A7 do have some issue, that's why they release A8 only 6 mths after A7 (far better spec). By looking at S5 and S6, it take about 12 mths for next similar model.
Both are 5.5" range.
