With a little more ram and i can guarantee you it would rival the A71
Before 2019 the A series had quality, but after merging with the J series, it's an empty shell of what it used to be

Its my daily driver and I manage to have 40% remaining from 8am to 5pm daily. I use YouTube 4hrs, social media 2hrs , check emails 1.5hrs. Play some games while on break for 2hrs. To me that's reasonable. But could it be its d 6.7" dispalay screen, snapdragon 730G, Adreno 620 that consumes d 4500mah power compared to your 2017 A5

              Chipset Exynos 7880 (14 nm)
              CPU Octa-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A53
              GPU Mali-T830MP3
              Battery 3000mah

Can someone explain to me why this older 2017 chipset tends to be more power efficient than 2020 chipset. Tech guys in d house ,pls help me out!

The A71 lasts more than a day even under heavy use. If it doesn't for you, you likely have a defective A71 unit. Have it replaced.

Nikoleye, 19 Dec 2020What is the maximum storage SD card I can place in A71(not 5G)?Maximum is currently 1 Terabyte although card price for 1Tb is still too high. Wait next year and it should continue to drop. I have a 512GB Lexar micro SD card in my A71. It's way much cheaper now (you can get one for USD $75 or less). 1 Tb micro sd cards still cost around USD $285.

The A71 actually supports up to 2 Tb micro sd cards although they're not yet commercially available. Be sure to encrypt your micro SD card if you plan to use one on the A71. It will protect your data (make it unreadable) should someone get hold of your phone and micro sd card. Micro SD card encryption is something China made phones can't do - all phone models from Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo. It's likely Chinese government mandated.

Old phone is 3 years old, charged hundreds of times and battery lasts better than on a new A71. I'm getting around 35-38hous from 100% to 10%. Old phone was doing 48-50h when it was new and around 35-38h after 3 years. I use all the time (it is "on"- I never switch it off) WiFi, mobile data and Bluetooth on both devices and I keep Always on display with clock. I don't want to turn anything off, why would I. What is the point of feature/new technology if it must be limited. If a phone can't last 45-50h when it is new than it is a bat product, period! So to compare old phone with 3000mAh battery is doing better than new phone with 4500mAh battery. I'm not the only one that is not happy with battery of Galaxy A71. Great phone, don't get me wrong, just battery is not up to task. It should have got a 5500-6000mAh battery if that is the only solution, but Samsung decided to go for "lighter" phone. 6000/4500=1.33 x 35-38h= 47-51h. That would be great, but it is not like that :(

Viper, 13 Dec 2020sorry to disappoint you, but you sound like spoiled rich pe... morehaha nah man! I did not go broke, I did shave spending on tech products, think of this as someone who has new hobbies and interests, so indeed I had a lower budget to spend. I still disagree with you mate. Software support does matter no doubt about that, but you need to couple a certain level of hardware to enjoy all the software features. It was something that I did not find in this phone. The phone is great don't get me wrong, but now I firmly believe and will make decisions accordingly, that a 2 or 3 years old flagship model is a better choice than a current gen mid ranger.

Imagine someone still using a A5 from 2015, 16GB ROM 2Gb RAM 720p screen... lol

Even now we can only get 4G in major cities, most of the rural area still operate on 2G or 3G.

A71 is a good phone too. Avoid all Samsung phones below A70. Especially stay away from A51. That's worth 100EUR max.

From what you've described, you should be fine with any 5 years old phone as long as it has 5G and earphone jack. No regards to performance, camera, features, display, audio, built quality, etc.
Unfortunately, most users expect more from their phones than that.

5G will be slowly adapted into phones, because it's a unnecessary cost expense for now. It makes no sense as a brand to unnecessarily charge more, when 90%+ of their customers don't have access to it, and they expect their customers to change phones by the time of widespread implementation of 5G.
In midrange phones, you'll start seeing it a lot more by mid 2021 to early 2022.

For you, the decision comes down to just "feeling content" knowing that your phone has the latest software update.
                                        With minor changes, rarely improvements.

For him, and me, it comes down to what usage needs our phone fulfill in reality, and how good is it at fulfilling them.
Camera, Display/Visual experience, Sound, Features, Built quality, Performance, etc.

A phone that's superior in these things but is on Android 8, is still much better in reality than a phone that's inferior in these things, but is on Android 11.

As long as apps still support that older Android version. Even Nougat isn't outdated. And Android gives you the benefit of Custom ROMs, even if your phone is outdated.
