Can't wait till the A74 comes out this year!

I already have the S24+, but wouldn't mind buying it for a family member.

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2024More info https://www.straitstimes.com/tech/hundreds-of-use... more1st link says "Screens were not as complex 6 to 7 [2016-2017] years ago"
      The repair shop owner said
“It has been a growing trend since curved screens and more advanced screens became more common in phones,” said repair shop Mister Mobile’s founder Alan Tan, 34.

There are seven Mister Mobile outlets here repairing some 5,000 electronic devices monthly, and Mr Tan said he has received at least 200 of such queries in the first two weeks of November alone.

The problem typically boils down to faulty connection points that link a screen to a motherboard, said Mr Tan, whose team examined the faulty circuits under a microscope to understand the issue.

Modern phones today have more linkages than before to support bigger panels, higher refresh rates for a smoother scrolling screen, or even curved panels. The more connection points in a compact chassis, the higher the chance that one can be dislodged or torn over time, said Mr Tan.

Software updates can likewise result in screen glitches if they require the phone to tap previously unused linkage points that happen to be damaged, he said.

“Six or seven years ago, screens weren’t so complicated,” he added. “So we are seeing the results of those years of new screens today.”

It affects Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, Apple and possibly others too.

Samsung A73 5g only supports wired Android Auto? I have been trying to connect it wirelessly but notification is showing to connect using wire. Kindly let me know if you have faced this.

          Anonymous, 24 Jan 2024no problem with my A73, 2 years old. I want Samsung galaxy A73 original 8gp 128

Has this, suddenly brings a green line, which eventually turns to three total lines. I was using the phone at the time the green line starts appearing, it didn't fall or bumped to anything at that time. Weird. Just to note that this happens after updating to One UI 6.0. Samsung should give free screen replacement for this instead of charging people hundreds of dollars.

It's already documented globally by Samsung members owners of S21+, S20+ & Ultra series, A72, A73, M52,. You can google the latest by searching Samsung + green lines on screens. This has been happening since 2021. As soon as the 1-year warranty expired - they pull this scam to all , also happens after applying the latest OS updates, and after your warranty being over. There are numerous civil suits now and in the US, there is a class-action lawsuit currently active..

Yesterday here in the UK, Android 14 and One UI version 6.0 arrived on both of my A73 handsets (128 & 256 models) OTA. 3GB download with a security patch level dated 1 November 2023. Judging by other comments, it seems our territory had to wait slightly longer than other markets who received a month earlier.

No issues so far. Both phones feel refreshed, with a slightly different font, and a few other minor enhancements. It is nice to be running the latest OS. It could be the placebo effect but my battery seems to be lasting slightly longer versus Android 13.

As a previous and long-time HTC owner - a company who neglected providing updates to their Android handsets in latter years - I am pretty pleased with the A73 and foresee at least another 18-24 months of use before I even think of looking at a replacement device.
