Anonymous, 14 Apr 2018Nokia 7+ or Samsung A8 ?Those are both some pretty great phones. I personally would prefer the design and smaller size of A8, but the Nokia got pure android and better update support which I also wouldn't want to miss out one. This is a pretty tough decision.

I have samsung a8 since 25 February and below are few things :
- The rear camera might not be the best thing about the phone but the front dual cameras are awesome.
- The battery life is above average. Even after heavy usage throughout the day, at the end of the day it still has around 40% battery left. And also the fast charging is nice too.
- Screen is very good.
- The overall performance is fast and no lag noticed.
- The IP68 water and dust resistant is the perfect additional feature.

But they told me something strange . If you have a hardware problem even with warranty they will not replace the phone with new one , but how? It's their problem not the customer, and sometime the hardware problem will appear after one week .
Note: they will replace it only if you returned it to them within one week only !!!! If your phone under warranty.
It's surprising me , Because when you buy a new phone and opened because of their problem not a customer.
Finally I am waiting their final report if it's need fixing or just software issue .
Because its not fair that your new phone have been opened because of their mistakes .

Anonymous, 09 Apr 2018Yes i understand and when my screen is off the voice comman... moreWow thank you so much, i was confused because a Samsung representative at the Samsung store told me that you can only do that with Bixby Voice on note8/s8/s9 but on other phones that use S Voice instead of Bixby Voice you have to first maually turn the screen on so it is at least showing the lock screen before the phone will start listening for the "Hi galaxy" command. He even showed me the S Voice app on the A8 and the description clearly says that the screen needs to be on for S Voice to start listening.
Thank you for testing this for me and proving him wrong, it is very nice to know that i don't have to touch the phone to wake it when the screen is off.

I am not asking if you can unlock the phone with a voice command, i am asking if you can WAKE the phone when the screen is turned off.
Ok google would only work if you first turn on the screen, and then say ok google to unlock it.

Greetings all, i am looking to buy the Galaxy A8 but i have a question for anyone who has a Galaxy A series phone.
Is it possible to wake your phone via the "hi galaxy" voice command using S voice when the screen is completely turned off? Or do i have to approach the phone and turn on the screen before it will start listening for the voice command?
Most Motorola phones from 2013 onward, "fruit" phones, and my current HTC U11 all have dedicated low power consumption procesor cores which are used to always have a mic listen for a certain voice command even when the screen is off, so that you can wake your phone without having to turn the screen on first.
However, some lower cost phones can only detect voice commands such as "ok google" when the screen is on, it works even from lock screen but you still have to manually turn the screen on for the phone to start listening. On other phones it works only if the phone is charging.
I have searched for the answer to this question a lot online and i can't find the answer, can any Galaxy A8 or other recent A series owners please test this for me?
