500 for what? Big screen and small battery? And it looks like S8 hell no.
And GPU Mali? WTF.
Among all possible GPu Mali is the worst possible option.

If I were you guys, you should buy a phone with Android Oreo as first official ROM. Search for Project Treble. It is only mandated by Google to manufacturers when they use Android Oreo on new smartphones. For me, A9 2019 and A9+ 2019 (probable monikers) would be the best bet in terms of Project Treble.
Or why not wait for S9 and S9+? I read it will come earlier than the usual S launch.

Price of A8 2018 is at $499. A8+ 2018 at $599.
I don't know if these prices are for 4GB RAM or 6GB.
Still, the price is a huge leap from A5 2017 and A7 2017 introductory prices.
For now, I will stick to my A5 2017. Still performs great and can still compete with modern new generation of midrange phones though I really want an Infinity Display.

TheLostWanderer, 19 Dec 2017So... notification LED, dual front camera, same battery as ... moreProcessor, OIS, Dual-Pixel and 4K video, 2K display, curved screen and wireless charging which make it knocked-down by S8. I think they ripped off the OIS on A-series is to make more difference between high-end and mid-range devices

TheLostWanderer, 19 Dec 2017So... notification LED, dual front camera, same battery as ... moreI see the A series like the S's little brother. Has some flagship features, but not all. And I guess it is directed towards customers who want flagship features without paying the flagship price (even tough the S series is not the expensive, comparing it to the Note series, or other phones).

So instead of updating the A5 (2017) to 7.1.1, Samsung decides to release a new phone instead. Oh, and instead of updating this A8 (2018) to Oreo, Samsung will release A8 (2019) instead.
The only redeeming factor of Samsung A phones is that it's the few less expensive phones with IP68 rating.
