Actually, i have owned all Galaxy S to date, and what you are seeing now, it's been this way since S4, S3 started to be good but satisfying colors reproduction appeared with S4. S5 has the best of all and i'm buying an Alpha as a secondary phone atm.

iqbal, 13 Dec 2014iphone 5s or galaxy alpha ? which is better ? please give s... morePersonally i go for 5s no doubt but if the cheap look and feel of Alpha doesnt bother you then its a good phone, much better battery than 5s. You have to go to a store and try Alpha, it feels too cheap, and same with Note 4, the aluminum frame doesnt change anything, the plastic back is still the dominant feel-factor, in fact Note 4 has so curved weird back cover that it feels cheaper than Note 3. Dont let the aluminum fool you, Galaxy phones are still on the bottom rank when it comes to premium feels, try it yourself before you decide.

I had my dose of flagship grade Samsungs and it wasnt good but i have to admit Alpha is quite a phone, admireable. Despite having just as laughable resolution and severely pixellated display as Z3 Compact the AAlpha has far better color reproduction, much more natural and the presets enables you to get it even more natural. Not so with Z3 Compact, its virtually impossible to adjust the display white balance to get anywhere near real life colors.
Who would have thought, Samsung who had the very laughable color reproduction since the Galaxy S and Wave S are now among the better, and Sony has worse colors now than Samsung ever had. Clearly sony is evolving backwards while samsung made real efforts and is now harvesting the fruits of that effort.
Dont get me wrong, Samsung still make terrible phones, like that physical home button they refuse to let go of, thats a real dealbreaker, so is the removable plastic back, but they've come a long way in some other areas, like color reproduction and the slimming of TouchWiz is making people breathe freely, not getting choked in garbage anymore (while Sony, again, is going the other way)
Finally, battery, in a heavy video playback test the Alpha comfortably beat the Z3 Compact, no secret that AMOLED is better for video but still in this case the battery capacity is MUCH smaller and still it won with a good margin, must have something to do with the SoC as well.

Probably the most elegant product out there, the best solution for those who don't like the rounded and iPod-like shapes of iPhone 6 and still want to enjoy the freedom and speed of a high-end Android device.
Performance is great but it won't appeal to the users of sacred beasts like Note 4 or HTC One M8. Still a great phone for people who use powerful tablets and laptops and don't look for 5.0+ inch mobile screens. Price is not a problem as it goes down at least 200$ on Amazon and it's quite cheap with a contract.
"Vogue product of the year" in Italy, lol.

Battery life is also satisfactory. Unlike many people saying it isn't. I find it good.
comes with many features. ...
Screen resolutions are wayyy better than what S5 has. Look better and see the different.
Camera, even though 12mp..as S5 has 16, works no less than it. It's just wonderful.
The only thing I found missing is that they cud have added the water and dust resistant feature and expandable memory.
although 32gb is more than enough.
But after all ...
totally in love with my new phone.
I suggest that all the people thinking about to buy it or not...
just give it a shot. I am sure you will be happy too!

And y... moreyes i know bro, i mean 4" screen size range, smaller or compact version.
In different country Z3 Compact more cheaper than Galaxy Alpha, you can't generalize.
So many feature in a smartphone, not just about chipset, you should see all, and check how much of a difference between Exynos compared with Snapdragon 801.

And yes , in india Alpha is cheaper than z3c
Z3compact is nowhere nearer to the Alpha Exynos

If you want more affordable you can buy Xperia Z1 Compact
