This phone is the best small flagship. Lollipop destroyed the battery and the performance of this phone. S5 with MM is again a very good phone. Alpha is by far better than iphone 6. The MM update will make this phone better than it was with the excellent Kit kat 4.4.4. Be patient. Last week the S5 mini was updated. I think it's our turn now.

My daughter had a Galaxy Alpha for just under 2 years. A week ago she had it plugged in overnight to charge. When she picked it up the next morning it was so hot it burnt her hand and she dropped it back on the table. It took 15 minutes to cool down enough to be picked up after it was unplugged. We contacted Samsung who gave us an incident number and said they get back to us in 24 hours. They didn't. We contacted them again and they asked for more info which we supplied again. Four days later they replied saying because it wasn't under warranty they weren't responsible, but if we wanted to take it to a Samsung authorized dealer we could get it fixed at our cost. My daughter already had it replaced by an Apple I-phone before they ever got back to us. Seems she's uncomfortable with having a phone charging on her nightstand that's likely to cause a fire while she's asleep. She loves her new I-phone and we won't be becoming one of Samsung's "Valued Customers" for any product ever again. We'll be standing behind their products as well as they do.

This phone is exactly what Samsung lacks right now: A beautiful, powerful, yet compact flagship. Still today it is a great choice (If you do not mind Vulkan, Marshmallow and full metal body)

I also didn't expect it. Samsung did promise it last year but I didn't really expect that they will actually push two major android updates - the lollipop and the marshmallow, but they did, so props for that.
