Great phone. Somehow the software seems to be even more optimized than the Ace, i loaded my homescreen full of widget and it still ran smoother than my friends Ace (surprisingly...)

The Samsung Galaxy is a great budget Android phone and is the best in the market. Most people are concerned about the battery life, here are a few solutions.
1). Disable Background data in Accounts section in the Settings panel. This will disable any application that gives background updates. However, when you run the Android market, it will prompt you to enable it.
2). Turn off mobile networks in the Wireless Network settings. By default that is kept on for receiving/sending MMS or using the Edge service of your network. Switching that off will also switch off the GPS. If you use wi-fi, you don't need Edge.
3). In the Settings Panel under Application - Running Service, make sure app services that are not in used are shut down.
These are all by default networking that drains the battery life faster than usual. If you disable these, you can easily control your battery life. Utilize the internet only when necessary.
The phone is a much better choice as compared to Nokia, Sony Ericsson and any other device. You could save up on considerable money if you buy the GIO instead of a similar HTC. If you want a 5MP camera with flash then get the galaxy ACE which has a little higher price than the GIO. If however, camera isnt your greatest concern the GIO's 3.15MP without flash will do good.

battery life is great! comparing to other smartphones (like zte blade), if you just do a few calls a day, and only play sudoku it will last for 4-5 days. (My zte only 2 and a half days)
Of course you can give it a little bit of angry birds and it will only last a day or less.

AnonD-13644, 06 Sep 2011how is the battery time on this phone?
is it good?
i real... moreI have this phone and LOVE it, but the battery time is probably the biggest detractor - it's SHIT! Lasts less than a day UNLESS you turn on Flight Mode which disables all wireless connections (including sending/receiving calls and texts).
This makes the battery last WAAAAY longer, it's great. I don't get that many calls, so for me it's simple enough to turn Flight Mode on, and then disable it to check periodically. The battery lasts for days, and you can manually enable Wi-Fi when Flight Mode is on, fyi.
I definitely recommend this phone UNLESS you receive calls constantly and aren't willing/able to plug in your charger every night.
P.S. It charges really quick! :)
