There was update and now it is upgradable to android 2.3.4 GINGERBREAD (battery last longer and icons have changed THANKS SAMSUNG YOU ARE GREATEST)!!!

I love this phone. It's a true midrange phone compare to Optimus one and Htc wildfire or S. But it's up to ur favourite brand name! O.k u can compare then choose the one that most suit u.

Need more memory for apps installation? You dont want to root your phone? Its easy, go download SDK Manager ( search it on Google), use COMMAND PROMPT, with some instructions you can move installed apps to memory card. Need full explaination? The Gio's battery maybe quite sucks, but you can purchase Juice Defender Ultimate to make it stands for 2.5 hours of non stop browsing, 1.5 day with normal usage, and 2 days with light usage. Try it!

Failed product: am sorry I burnt my money on this buggy phone, and I can never trust Samsung again. My worst phone ever. This is my first Android phone, and it's almost enough to make me avoid Android forever.
The screen is good and the phone is inexpensive, but battery life sucks, internal memory is very limited, and the phone keeps switching off randomly at any time of day and night, sometimes switching off just before my morning alarm (yes, I was late for work). The only way to make sure it isn't off is to keep taking it out of my pocket and checking if it's still on, just so that you can receive calls and get reminders. I know this sounds ridiculous, but the only way to make sure the morning alarm rings is to keep waking up in the middle of the night to check that it's still on.
Even the cheapest non-branded phones can at least stay on and receive calls, messages and reminders on time. With this "smartphone" you have to keep it on and looking at it to make sure you can receive calls.
And firmware upgrade through Samsung software just doesn't work. I upgraded myself from official firmware to 2.3.3, and guess what? Battery life has improved, but the random shutdowns persist.

1- actually u r typing in the text recievers field which automatically start searching in the saved contacts list. tap to the msg composition field and u can easily typ ur msg there
2-yes i dont know why angry birds is also slow on my hand set aswell. but leave the game untouched for 5 or 6 seconds to properly load into the ram and then u'll be able to play it smoothly.
3-There is an app preinstalled in the phone which will allow u to smoothly and conviniently nevigate the android market or u may have it for free from the market
4-and about 4th i dont .. m sorry bro :D

The one i owned is quite awesome in fact i love this hand set with in its price range it offers loads of options. The only down side is that it have a poor battery but after doing some battery saving techniques it still gives me 1.5 days on average and 2 days on max.
Camera captures brilliant pix with availability of capturing panoramic view
over WIFI it easily touches 100 KB per second download speed and also wifi is DLNA certified
u can save upto 5000 msgs per contact (sent/recieved both)
GPS and everything is working fine on my set i m more than happy with it

lolipop, 13 Jul 2011why nobody mention about the application storage??.. its su... morethere are some apps that only install over your phones storage otehrwise most apps can be installed over your SD card ... there is also an app named APP2SD which can mover your installed apps from your phones memory to your SD card very easily

Headfones which came with the fone are just fine actually u have to use some other headfones to get the most out of it ... Sound is loud and clear. i m using my Sony MDR EX700 headfones with my 5660 and it will bang ur head
