Soooo, I just came here to check something. I'm J7 2016 user and as far as I got it you got Android 7.1.1 and J7 only got 7.0. Can anyone confirm this? It's really, really strange to me, and I really have no idea why Samsung did this.

Yesterday I received updates Android 7.1.1 Nougat on my Samsung J5 2016 in Pakistan. I download it and installed successfully.

Bought my J5 2016 in may 2017, put it straight in a case, never dropped it, I worked in electronics years ago, so am pretty careful, about 4 months ago it started really playing up doing things like turning it off, only way was to remove the battery. It was doing all the things that you mention yours is doing. Don't know how I didn't launch the useless waste of money at a wall tbh! Anyway I bit the bullet and did a factory reset and bought a brand new samsung battery and quess what? Nothing has changed one bit, useless, it takes over 48 hours to charge it. Total piece of useless rubbish.

My j510gn received an update that weight 257 MB and as of now im downloading it

The only thing missing on the update was that no always on display even when you sideloaded it its still not work despite it is 7.1.1. secure folder works though through sideloading also.

Nougat 7.1.1 is the last major update for J5 2016 . There is no new update for this phone. J5 2016 don't receve Oreo 8.0. It's not clear if J7 2016 gets upgraded to 8.0 Oreo.
