Mine is still going strong for 7 years. Although in 2020 (4 years in), the SYSTEMUI keeps crashing every 4-5 hours, stopping only upon restart. It happened weeks after updating to the last software update. Guess this was Samsung's way of EOL-ing the device for old model users.
Ended up learning how to root and install custom ROM on it. Fun experience. XDA forum community is amazing.

My phone got damaged in water and I started using this phone as a repla ement for a while..good phone, no lag on day to day use, normal 1 day usage battery life, many apps still support, no network issues, gps is accurate...storage might be issue for many people
Overall 9/10 from budget phone perspective

My experience:
My version can only go up to 6.0.1 and I don't know why.
Sometimes when you type on the keyboard, it randomly disables itself.
At random times, the phone will fade to black, show your home screen, and directs you to your lock screen for you to unlock it again. You cannot do anything while it does this. I don't know why it does this. It can happen at multiple times in a row. When you are trying to answer someone's call like I did, you would have to wait for an eternity to answer it, and in my case, it happened 6 times in a row. All of which lasted about 15 seconds.
It is really slow, when you are trying to do something, it takes a while for it to actually register. I was trying to answer a math quiz, but when I hit next, it accidentally submitted the quiz because I tried to hit next again when it didn't work the first time.
It has really low storage. Only 32GB. Not enough storage.
The battery is inaccurate. It says it's 5% when it is still turned off. But when it's turned on, it's at 71%
It's not that durable. Sure, it survived my clumsiness of accidentally dropping my phone at times. But my power button fell off.
When I start up my phone, sometimes it says Verification failed. The only option is to factory reset my phone. If I can remember correctly, I didn't root my phone. Thankfully, I was able to bypass it by holding the Power button and choosing restart.
Before I used it, my mom gave it to me. And good for her that she switched to the Note 9 my dad gave to her. I have begged my parents to buy me a new phone. My dad bought me a Vivo Y15A. I kinda wished it was another Samsung phone, but I'm still glad I finally switched and I definitely don't miss using that phone.

If you break the port, you have to replace a whole motherboard, this is why the J series has been discontinued. The design of the A series motherboard is just better, the motherboard is separated from the Sub board making it easier to replace a broken charging port

I had this phone before in 2017 to 2018 and according to my experience this phone is bad. They put the speaker on the right side of the phone which is very uncomfortable when playing games or watching youtube. The audio quality produced by the speaker does not reach a satisfactory level at all and the design is bad 2016 Galaxy A5 and A7 design is better than this. I rate this phone 3 out of 10.

Compared to when I first started using this phone in June 2017, I now experience more problems. My problems may have been brought on by my excessive use and battery drain, I continue to use it despite problems that began around its fifth year.

I have had this J7 prime since December 2016 until now it is still the one I use Samsung is very durable I have not regretted buying it.. It has not broken even when I have not taken it to the technician because it is really durable and I keep it really too

Using this since December 2016, this phone has not caused me any trouble till date. Not even a rupee was spent on its maintenance. Truly a great phone,Samsung made back then!! 6+ years and counting.

I'm using this model from 2019 till date. Not a single rupees I have spent for any kind of maintenance till date. It's working as smooth as the time of purchase. Superb build quality.
