Note 6 is 6 month away from now, I expect Samsung to include following: microSD, 4000mah battery, a faster SPEN, IP68, 5.7 or 5.8" with the same footprint as Note5, etc... 8mm thickness is VERY ACCEPTABLE anyday.

AnonD-11368, 01 Mar 2016Hi all, I want to buy a phone with the following criteria... moreFrom this list:
Umm I suppose the Note 4. (It has SD card option)
              - from what you have listed, you don't want the S-pen (or perhaps it is your most important consideration, hence only comparing these two phones..)
If you can live without the S-Pen, the S7 may have a Duos option (dual SIM cards), the Edge variant would give you similar screen real estate as well.

I use a Note Edge, and the extra width, for viewing items in portraiture more is very handy, turning the screen ratio into a width that works. (Far fewer times do I flip my screen sideways that I would on a typical 'widescreen' phone).

                    Hi all,
I want to buy a phone with the following criteria.
                    1) screen size at least 5.7 inches.
                    2) dual sim
                    3) dedicated sd card slot
                    4) good battery life. At least a day upon using Facebook, Internet on cellular data. I don't play games.
Which one is better Samsung Galaxy Note 4 OR Samsung Galaxy Note 5 for me fulfilling the above criteria?
                    Thanks in advance.

They are not the norm, though they do devalue the website substantially and likely cause normal, more mildly mannered, and capable of "holding a conversation at a dinner party" types to move along.

And apologies for what appears to be bullying directed at you.
I noticed a few comments by the same person under different logins, and even went so far to track down your thread comments to check if justified.

From what I see, you are a standard user with questions, who is happy to deny mistruths when presented.

The fact that your gender is even brought up as conversation may indicate sexism.
Heaven (do not) forbid "a woman with a voice."

And for anyone else reading this comment; instead of just getting your post counts up when you find someone you agree with, perhaps instead of saying 'right on!', try pressing the "+1" and VOTE for the information as being important.

Ideally, new users to a thread with several thousand posts, can 'sort by relevancy' and technical and useful posts will fill their page.

AnonD-489412, 27 Feb 2016No it dosent make mine lag. The new sd cards are far quicke... moreSD card doesn't make phone 'lag' more,.. necessarily.

And Blondi1, what you have experienced in phones before the Note 5s ddr4 ram is note true of the present Samsung setup..

The DDR4 internal ram and super fast storage chips of the newer note/S series blows away the speed of add on memory.

I use a Note Edge, and the SD controller chip will not make use of my fastest available SD memory card. Nor will usb2 transfer speeds.
I can record 4K videos without hiccup.

Android as an operating system is happy to default to an external storage card for videos and photos, and even installing apps.
An ideal situation would be if it split apps over both memory types and loaded from both simultaneously, but a situation that could make full use of the phone bandwidth this way would seldom be called for, and rarely implemented (this type of system usage is often only in the realms of gaming consoles, where designers try to squeeze out every last iota of juice available)
                            So in the real world....
The included memory is faster than anything purchasable. It should load apps quicker (kinda what tcool was suggesting) and keep the camera happily recording.

Generally large SD cards are not the fastest (customers opt for size>speed), and fake/glitchy SD cards and slow SD cards can introduce all sorts of problems, and at the very least, add on memory will consume power from the phone.
So, that is the argument in this thread, page after page after page, (and TCool also likes to boast how nice the phone is to touch, and that plastic is sooo yesteryear).

Majority can live without removable battery, many can live without IR blisters, and most, it would seem, want expandable storage option (some argue as long as internal memory comes in a range of sizes, or a minimum of 64Gb)

Blondi1, if you have been using a micro SD card from note 3 vintage, it might no serve duty to well in a modern phone. Eg I doubt it would be fast enough for 4K video recording.
                            Food for thought

Believe it or not, a lot of threads on GSM are not filled with the level of bickering we get from just a handful of fanatics, ahem, 'fans'.

What the person did was explain, fairly succinctly, that this thread is filled with so much trash that glimmering the useful information scattered in between is made painstakingly hard.

If a handful of fanatics could stop arguing about COMPLETELY POINTLESS facts and specs, it would be easy to read actual real world account of using the phone model in question. Like most other threads on GSMArena.

(And sure the specs on a phone are not pointless, but arguing about why a person might want one spec over another, or value form over function, is personal opinion, and trying to tell someone they made a poor purchasing decision based on OUR OWN needs should be moderated out of existence.... So, you know, readers can read a useful web thread..)

And it would be a sad thing to see happen.
These Sony IMX sensors, implemented the way Samsung have, and including fast optics, make for a great (phone) camera.

Anyhow, misinformed consumers who THINK more megapixels equals better camera, and don't evaluate a camera based on lense+software+sensor are who influence hardware manufacturers decisions to implement a given camera setup.

Good on HTC for braving the market first with ultra pixels.
Now we just need consumers to realise the reasons why (and use and compare shots from) their ultra pixel type cameras.

12mp s7 kills my last generation galaxy note (which is a 16mp affair), and even if I had to keep my slower lens, I'd 'downgrade' to the (better) 12mp part.

Capturing more light means all shots can be better. Fast moving shots all the way to low light shots. More quality, printable photos free from blur and noise.
