I just bought this phone 2 days ago (Malaysian spec cpu exynos), and i could say that its over expensive. But overall seems fine, even playing games like Mobile Legends drains only about 3-5% battery per game due to Vulcan API. I didn't notice heat during gaming, probably because of phone housing made of glass. Need to be extra carefull with that glass though. It has small capacity batteries, but you could tune its display to use HD(1480x720) instead of WQHD(2960x1440) to save batteries and turn off the "Always on display". 1 full charge could last entire workday, but a heavy user need to carry power bank. Charging to 100% is fast. On the camera side, I'm a bit dissapointed even it has one of the best pictures quality, I'm just stuck at 12MP maximum. The stylus performance I can't say much because this is my 1st note series. Thats all I could say, overall satisfied with it.

That's right Mate 10 is not even being sold yet. All he said was how good the camera on the Note 8 is. Not Mate 10! I can say the depth focusing on the Note 8 can sense how much it can determine which is far away is rendered much more blurred and things even a bit closer have little blur.

Get off this comments page if you have no real Note 8 experience to talk about!

I've been practicing with the iris scanner. I no longer have to open my eyes wide but still have to put a 'surprised' look on my face for it to work. I might set it up again to see if I can improve it

                The wide aperture mode.

After a month of usage, the camera is better than I have expected. I am used to the S7 Edge and Note7. Practically I'm already familiar with the same S8 camera quality - fast-focus, high quality even for dark scenes.

I never thought the zoom/bokeh effect would that useful, but I find myself using it a lot for documenting family and friends. It does not just blur backgrounds, but also gauges which things are farther away and blurs them more than things that are closer. Nothing like the Google camera app. It really has better depth focusing.

The camera system is something to consider in getting the Note8, other than the S Pen.

After 20 days of use this phone is still very smooth and fast and no major issues at all.
One thing I really don't understand is why almost every major technology websites praises the edge screen? With this edge screen and other edge screens, forget about being able to drop the phone without a screen protector and not having a risk of screen being slightly damaged (if not fully shuttered.) With flat screens there are simple hard cases that easily protect glass from touching the ground even when a phone falls directly on its face. There are no cases that will protect this stupid edge screen this way and not everyone wants a case with a screen protector!

[deleted post]What? You did not know? Even with 4000 mAh, the Mate 10 is lower in battery endurance. 89 hours for the Note 8 and only 87 hours for the Mate 10. You are bragging about that?
IR blaster? What do you remote control for, the tv? We the actual remote controller!!! Like you still live in the 1980s?

Yeah, the fingerprint scanner at the front, but we have the iris scanner that is super fast. Much wider screen important. The back fingerprint is ok for me.

OLED screen of the Note 8 is the BEST in the world! IPS not as better in sunlight than OLED of Note 8. IP53 vs the Note 8 having IP58. The new CAT signal only works and is just tiny bit faster in countries that support it. No point. Bluetooth 5 streaming to 2 audio speakers bis so useful for 2 of my wireless speakers. Wider range too. Bluetooth 4.2 is old. S Pen so much useful for taking notes. Mate 10 only like normal typing. Art making for some people with Note 8.

There is nothing to compare with Note 8. Even camera of Note 8 is better in stabilization and fast focusing. Wide angle is what I prefer than black and white. Who takes black and white photos today? Are you photographer? Do you make money out of taking photos with your phone? No. If you did, you get the Note 8 over the inferior Mate 10. Note 8 photos with live focus are the best!

So stop posting your Mate 10 bragging here. You brag in Mate 10 comments. Leave! We do not need your nonsense!

                        the phone is great
oros scanner works perfect even in dark and i can easily reach the finger print scanner. even face detection works quite nicely.
                        superb camera performance
                        display is just amazing
fast, superb and design is wow
battery lasts a day without charging
                        fast charging is also great.
overall the best android phone in the market

It is funny that even the battery of the Mate 8 is just below the Note 8 stamina performance. So much for it having 4000 mAh battery.

IP 68 is even better than just IP 63. OLED display is better than IPS. Having S Pen is better than none. Even the Note 8 camera is better in performance and live focus feature. Iris scanner is better than no iris scanner. All you seem to be bragging about now is figuring scanner.

Go away with your fake reviews about the Note 8.

Dropping any fone in tub or water, totally depends on how deep or totally submerged in water! Old days of 3310 it use to fall in bucket, immediately taken out and dry in sun for a day, would do the trick. Nor scuba diving and receiving calls and dialling! Forget these two Gimmicks of Locking and waterproofing. Simple pattern or pin is as secure than iris or fingerprint, Try opening pin or pattern locked simple fone. We are nincompoops, and easily pay thousands jet for show off. Still simple Nokia 6 is as secure and updated as OREO 8.
