Samsung Galaxy Note8

DisplayMate has given the Galaxy Note 8 its highest grade ever as well, an A+.
Largest Native Color Gamut (112% DCI-P3 and 141% sRGB / Rec.709).
Highest Peak Display Brightness (1,240 nits).
Highest Contrast Rating in Ambient Light (270).
Highest Screen Resolution (2960×1440).
Highest Contrast Ratio (Infinite).
Lowest Screen Reflectance (4.6 percent).
Smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle (29 percent).
Every year, Samsung Super AMOLED displays are becoming better and better. One of the features why I have been sticking with the Galaxy Note lineup. 141% sRGB is like unheard of. I can understand a full 100%, but 141% sRGB? I'll need to see it for myself. The Note7's display was already excellent, but this just takes the cake.
And it's considered as a 3K display.

Cheaper variations are welcomed, especially the J7 Pro having an f/1.7 aperture for low light pictures. Funny thing is, it has a sturdy metal back, dedicated dual SIM slots and dedicated microSD card slot, with a 3600 mAh battery. It's 1/3 the price with even a free wireless earphones. Processor and RAM are slightly below than the newest, but it's not worth crying over.
I for one need the S Pen, and the cost of owning the latest Note is pretty high and may not with it for most. It's a ploy for you to get the S8, which is 30 to 40% cheaper than a Note8 now.

This is a problem with the Samsung high-end phones. Their unique designs and USP are always replicated in Samsung's other much-less expensive phones after sometime...so much so that it becomes difficult to tell an "A" series phone from an "S" series phone/Notes...I would rather Samsung keep the features of premium hadsets unique and exclusive to only S series and Note series phones...Don't discount your innovation so cheap..

[deleted post]Nonsense! It is only you saying that. Nobody complains like that.
People have organized home and not misplacing the appliances remote controls like you.
It is only you who put the remote controls in different places.
Your problem is not the missing IR blaster in smartphone, it is your unorganized home/workplace. Fix your home/workplace. Getting remedy from smartphone is not the solution.
Look there are mouses and cockroaches roaming around your house and office. LOL!

2 problems to me for this Galaxy Note 8
1. Fingerprint Location
- this makes more difficult to user, S8 & plus has a issue that fingerprint can't reach easily on our hand when on One-Handed operation, that's okay to me, but this Note 8 has more inches on the screen and dimension with same position, which is more far far away from Palm hand, so you must change your position when holding it to reach the scanner.. which is doesn't comfortable.
2. Battery Capacity
- time by time, battery capacity decrease, I dont know Why.. and I think for this upcoming Note 8 should need a more battery capacity, perform more specs performance against S7, and perfected from S8 with a Lot feature especially their magical Pen.. I mean S Pen. with the largest inches screen (for now) 6.3" that's a lot bigger, and WQHD+ resolution, playing game on High End graphics this phone will die quickly, let's think about it...
- S7 edge : 3600mAh < there is no sign of expl*sion even with the blue coral color
- Note 7 (discontinue) : 3500mAh
- S8 | - S8 plus : 3000mAh | 3500mAh
- Note 8 : 3300mAh
*other phone may reach 4000mAh. Battery is pretty important for me
this is like decreasing without any reason, I don't care about Battery Life because battery life is depending on User Using right now.
I just wanted Samsung do more best, so I really hope the next generation Note series would be fixed especially A-Battery-Capacity-Decreased. That's All! :D

AnonD-197784, 28 Aug 2017Ok. Let me set this straight - This is a review forum
Yo... moreAnd I'm airing my opinion as an "earning adult" as opposed to what you're saying that "we" need more than one device or two phone numbers. I begged to disagree and the reasons why there's no need to have two phones. You can use even 4 phones and 4 numbers.
If we don't complain, Samsung would not know what customers actually want. I'm not the type to just be ok with things as-is.
Imagine, Note5 had no memory expansion took out some features and was limited to 32 GB version for most market. People like me complained - now we have memory expansion AGAIN and bigger internal base memory. They even fixed the S Pen from being stuck if put in the wrong way, instead of putting a disclaimer not to do it. They did put in a bigger 3500 on the next Galaxy Note instead of the 3000 the Note5 had, but messed up with the quality control.
So, do I think sealed battery as progressive direction? Absolutely not. I'll be reduced to carrying a power pack, charging every late afternoon, paying more for a battery replacement yearly to get the most optimized power reserves on that sealed battery.
You are down to 80% battery capacity within 2 months, and brand new would only give you some 13-14 hours of upkeep time with some 4-5 hours Screen On Time. Yes, you can go the whole by reducing usage - counter to the many features and power the Note8 offers.
This is acceptable for most people like you. Not for me. Removable battery system offered a chance for extended battery, and Samsung can provide that market. They can make the Note series more robust and with more battery capacity, different from the S series with glass backs. It should be easy ahead of innovations and power, not just 95% similar to the lastest S series.
And this is me airing my view. Note8 does offer the best set of features and especially the Wacom pen system.

How about IR in phone to control your office TV and projector? How progressive is your office! Always misplacing the appliances remote control, very organized work station. LOL!
Not all workplace are the same as your work place, don't generalize.
Not all uses IR in phone to control the appliances, they are only minority users.

You can't limit this forum to your level only;
1.Not everyone is stock to the old note 3
2.Not everyone draws on canvas and wacom for a living
3.Not everyone is limited to just one phone line
4.Not everyone is Whinnie about pointing a £1000 phone at a £100 A/C or a £5 DVD player
5. Not everyone has the time to be carrying bulky batteries
It's a forum for diverse opinions and people can share theirs and not even remotely trying to convince you about their preferences. Just airing what they like/love and don't like/love about a phone.
It's a forum people can learn new ideas from others and have better insight into what they thought they want and what they really now want.
No need to be all stuck up or shirty about what you may not even be able to afford even if it had a TV and A/C built in at £700. Or even if it has 30000mAh battery.
State your opinion and respect that of others . We are NOT all on your level or class. It's key you understand that. Gsmarena isn't for a particular class of people. It's for everyone.
Now we know what you are/like/want. We respect that. Thank you!

DNeighbor, 28 Aug 2017Exactly. Saying that we need two different phones daily is ... moreSaying that we need IR in phone daily is not something a lot of us want.
Why do we need to use the phone to control appliances when they have their own dedicated remote controls?
Why use your phone to control public appliances? To show the people around how techie you are?
By the way I hope you can control to lower the TV volume with your phone immediately to answer an incoming call.

To you, carrying two phones is progressive. Carrying a powerbank because the internal phone battery is too small is progressive for you. Planting charger pads/chargers everywhere you go is progressive according to you.
