Only one thing I don't like is the placement of the fingerprint. Is not favourable place at all esp. considering the size of the phone. The phone is also heavy but apart from these two things the phone is a great make. I hope you get the market you want. One thing I am happy for is the discount you are offering for the Note 7 buyers. Great move.

What a wow! Wow and wow again. Great great specs I think that this phone can take phone of the year again. Samsung company is a serious company and that they are becoming dangerous in the game of mobile phone business.

Disappointed idea for dual sim hybrid slot. Some advance user might always perform hard reset (wipe data) instead of soft reset (recall factory setting). So memory card is strictly required. When sim 2 is installed then no more slot for memory card.

Like I said; a phone out the... moreBecause everyone wants more RAM to open a lot of apps at the same time. I have 12 GB RAM because I illustrate 30,000 by 20,000 pixels of digital canvass. I make a living out of it. What do you use your laptop for - gaming? You don't need 16GB for that. It's nice to just say specs and "futureproof" a $1200+ macair with a 128GB M.2 storage space and is the laptop that isn't even suited for professional illustration or 3D model making. It's thin, metal and light with an Apple logo. Now Apple is even making very thin layered special batteries all glued inside the laptop which no one else will be able to replace.
This is the progressive future you like. All batteries being sealed. You should know the battery is the first to go for any devices. And you're very happy to be going to service centers for changing them and paying a lot more than you should. Yes, progress way of doing things.
I'm expecting the Note8 to something I'm going to be using a lot - I'm getting myself a new 30,000 mAh external battery pack by Zerolemon. Why not, right? Go all the way in carrying a big @$$ powerbank for the thin Note8 until Zerolemon comes out with the external battery case. My old Xioami 16,000 mAh one is with my wife who needs it daily to power up her S7 Edge - yes, progress. Big @$$ power bank for thin phone.

Love the phone, I was really looking forward to pre-order the blue one and unfortunately it is not available here in the UK.
Is it available in the USA?
Or the question should be is that colour available anywhere at all? (apart from youtube videos)

Like I said; a phone out there for everyone! Some would pick based on an IR blaster, some for battery, some for screen.
I do for future proofing; average across the board specs - especially for components that can't be upgraded. And more importantly platform compatibility.
I also seen Samsung models that NEVER saw updates after the first push (which is shamefully normal), BUT with the flagships, they are "forced" to update for at least another 5 functional years. And with a 6GB of RAM, I think it's as future proof as buying a 16Gb RAM laptop.

While you must like carrying and charging with a power pack daily (yeah, progressive), I carry one device. No charger, no power bank, no charging pads, no worries despite heavy usage.
3300 mAh is almost 6% less than the Note7's 3500 mAh. With the usual browsing, YouTube and music with just almost 5 hours of SOT, about in the 9th hour of use with 30% left. Just means I have 13 hours of average keep up time if I'm not going to charge. I'm out of the house 16 to 18 hours. I have to charge before night time.

It's not to me, especially I sometimes stream document my art lessons outdoors. I complain because Sanding can do better. Case point: S8 Active with 4000 mAh. Even that 4000 mAh could only give me barely 15 hours up keep. At 5000 mAh, it'll give me 18.5 hours.
It's math.
Make no mistake, I'll be getting this, and will put it to the test again. I expect the battery to be meh.

Very excited about the Note 8 and new specs. I have been a note user for several years starting from the Note 1 then 3 then 4. I was not to sure if there was going to be another note since the Note 7 did not dot hat well. When I heard that the note 8 was officially launch I got very excited but was then disappointed again. I know some of you might not enjoy or appreciate the IR Blaster that use to accompany many Samsung mobiles but I kinda live for it. It has been so sad to see the IR being discontinued on several flagship Samsung.When I decided back then on a new note, I had to choose between the Note 4 or 5and ended with the note 4. Its been over a year now and my IR blaster on the note 4 suddenly died after the lats update and apparently its a known issue. Was told by Samsung to take it into one of their centres to reload software. Haven't come around to do that yet. SO, IR is gone, no removable battery, now I am kinda considering LG 's V20 as they seem to understand users like me much better.

But at least they separate the camera and fingerprint sensor with the LED flash and heart rate monitor in the middle. And there is a barrier line between the fingerprint sensor and camera parts. Should be no more problem with camera smudges. But I still hate it anyway. Prefer it lower. But we need to remind ourselves this is a phablet, not a smartphone. It pretty much a smartphone used like a tablet. Meaning you need two hands to use it. Hard to argue with phablet ergonomics.

My issue was the small screen - would have even preferred a 6.5" but this would more than suffice

My daughter has a Gionee M5 with a high capacity sealed battery; maybe 5000mAh or so - my note 5 and S8 plus outlasts the battery in a way it shocks me. Even the 6s Plus outlasts it, Hence SOC and software optimization - which is where I think Samsung will have done quality research on.
Like I said, it's a trend and I see it as progressive because my part of the world is littered with Chinese fake accessories and buying a Samsung "removable" battery and having to scratch and check a code online to verify authenticity is not worth my time anymore. And by the way, half the time, Samsung stores won't have the "removable" batteries in stock here.
My Mac book air battery after a liquid spill damaged it cost about $45 conversion (which shocked me cos I thought it would cost way more), I opened it up with the special tool that was a bonus to the purchase and that was really easy.
So in the end it's really no big deal. Every battery is removable and replaceable. YouTube helps with DIY instructions.
Let's just give this a pass and let the tech world move on.
They have to make their money and give us the tools we need.

I, for one have bought original OEM batteries via Samsung centers, and they are at par - I'm pretty sure I got originals with some indicators and little details to tell me that they are legit. They only lasts me 18 months with some 60-70% efficiency even by cycle them daily. Now imagine how that ONE sealed battery will last by charging 2-3times daily...
Trusted third-party brands like Zerolemon are very reliable. Find me a complaint of any of their batteries exploding... I dare you to show me one. That's 10,000 mAh extended battery from them DIRECTLY powering my device. None of that transfer loss BS. Now I have to content a 30 to 40% power loss for their external battery cases.
While you believe that this is the future, this is Steve Jobs' fault - he wanted a sole monopoly of the after sales services to earn more money. That's right, HTC, Sony, and now Samsung caught on. They made the phone more fragile, sealed it so you can pay more. A cracked S7 Edge is $220 the last time I asked.
I do my own sealed battery replacements with the Note 8.0 (2013) every year. Samsung has no stock supply for the sealed battery and I had to settle with a third-party. So much for reliance. That's how it is - weeks for an order to supply a sealed battery. They only send it by demand. It's stupid. They control the price, and service fees - all because the 12-month warranty has expired which is a calculated expectancy so that when the 18th month is reached, you pay extra than a user replacement.
So much for water-resistance too. And another way for a hack to happen on your device.
Sealed batteries are never a "progressive" stance - it's a monopoly for service, and it's a way for people to just think it's easier to buy a new device. You seem to love it - how much does an MacBook battery replacement cost? I'm really sure it would cost more than 1/4th of the retail cost of the device. Meanwhile, my Alienware's user replaceable with no special screws is up for a battery refresh. I change it myself, and the battery is from a trusted source that sell original new ones.
