I have had my Note 4 now for about 3 years. When I purchase a Note 8 (if they have a removable battery) I will put a new battery in my Note 4 and maybe even include a spare one prior to selling it. That should take me about 2 minutes and no special tools or potential damage to my phone. After I reset it, the buyer will have a phone that will be as good as new that will maintain a full charge and I will get top dollar for it. Who would buy a 3 year old phone with the original battery in it with no way of changing it out or confirming its condition.....not me. Like I said before Samsung makes GREAT phones....They just don't answer them when their customers call. The same goes for the Note 8.....Which one of the following 2 phones would you buy.....2 Year old Note 8 with original battery - Change out at your own risk and cost or.....2 Year old Note 8 with new battery and a spare one included. There is no risk of losing customers to Samsung if the battery is removable....However if it is not ??????.....Why take the risk. I do not hear anyone saying they will not buy a Note 8 if the battery is removable.

DNeighbor, 07 Jan 2017I'm sure you use an average of more than 2 GB of data with ... moreLol it's not about screen on time or how long your phone will last on a single charge. It's about longevity of the battery itself as well as its safety in every day use. And in all those years not once has the non-removable battery of my nokia e7 ever showed the slightest sign of being needed to be replaced or of being close to spontaneously catching fire. The point sailed way over your head. Your comprehension skills need polishing, my friend.
And again, we cannot conclude that the exploding note 7 battery was due to the fact that the battery was non-removable. The fact, however, is that non-removable batteries by nature are not any less safe than removable ones. It doesn't matter if samsung recalled the note 7 twice or a hundred times. Making the conclusion that employing non-removable batteries equals voila exploding note 7 and then trusting samsung less because of a flawed association IS misguided. Again, it is most prudent to wait for the official investigation result.

Misguided? Why would they recall the Note7 TWICE, and end all production and selling? Explain that.
Samsung's attempt to do iPhone-like limitations and fragility like with the Note.5 has started me doubting about the "flagship" hardware they sell. I really tried with the Note7, and the lack of versatility with extended batteries I was used to with the Note 3 was something I had to endure for a better camera.
I think of smartphones as portable computers, and is the only gadget I carry without the need to charge during the day despite very heavy use.

And up to now, i've never needed its battery replaced. We're well beyond the time when batteries are needed to be user-replaceable. Technology has advanced to the point that such a feature is now only a preference. In terms of safety, that's not where the problem lies. The iphone has never had a user-replaceable battery and other oems as of late have proven that such phones aren't at a higher risk of spontaneously combusting than those with removable batteries. Waiting for the official result of the note 7 investigation is most prudent. If you trust samsung less because of the latest unfortunate note, that's your right. I think it's misguided, but to each his own.

Imperator Neubaticus, 06 Jan 2017It'd be great if samsung decides to make the note 8 tout ov... moreUm, even a 6.1" 16:9 screen with no bezels or casing at all, would be wider than a Note 7, so they'd have to wrap it around the edges of the phone, use a non-standard aspect ratio (in which case a movie wouldn't fit nicely) or bend spacetime to make that happen.

Imperator Neubaticus, 06 Jan 2017It'd be great if samsung decides to make the note 8 tout ov... moreI doubt it will be coming with 5000mAh. With the the exploding fiasco they had with Note7 (yeah, I used it for 45 days), I can only hope it comes with a removable battery option. All batteries will degrade and expand - you can inspect them from time to time, or cycle between batteries. Just silly that they keep following iPhone trends and keep Samsung flagship phones even more fragile with glass backs and curved glass edges.
My trust towards Samsung has faltered. I'll wait for a few months until getting any of their devices to see for any explosive flaws. iPhones have the same problem so it seems with a report of an iPhone7 Plus exploding while being charged.

If Samsung is pushing for the trend of removing the earphone jack, then I'm losing more confidence with this company. I actually have been using BT accessories for audio, however, I really do not see it as logical.
I noticed too that Sony suddenly increased their BT audio devices by 50% than before. Rather silly to be riding on with the iPhone7 trend. What used to be $99 is $150, like the SBH54. My SBH52 had more functions at less than $100.

It'd be great if samsung decides to make the note 8 tout over 6 inches of screen real estate with the same dimensions as the note 7. 4k isn't bad as long as the battery is at least 5000mah (the a9 comes to mind). I'm down with 6gb of ram instead of 8 but please let there be 256gb rom. The s-pen was already awesome in the note 7 so they don't need to do too much in that area. Waterproofing is a nice addon as well as the iris scanner but i can do without the latter. Usb type c, latest exynos, and dual pixel camera and i'm a happy camper.

Removable batteries aren't the solution, the s4 had a removable battery but that didn't stop it from swelling up and Samsung having to replace thousands of batteries...

I had to go back to a 5 after I had to turn in my GN7. They tried to push the Samsung S7 on me but I like the stylus. I can't seem to get along without it. The 5 is OK but it's soooooo slow after the GN7. SO, there better be a stylus.

The dearest knowledge followers. The best amazing possible specifications with Bluetooth 5,without (might have been forgotten!)mentioning battery capacity,IR,dlna, radio screen ratio to entire prime front window, dedicated memory slot for a dual SIM version with incredible 6 to gig RAM !!!Hopefully people should not be condemned to compensate the Note7 failure by paying $2000+!!!But with the forgotten missingg modifications n and not afraid of the highest natural battery capacity,it is going to be the best to be followed in 2017-18-19 for sure!!!Justice Rights is knowledge follower too! Thanks GSMArena and uncle Samsung for good news even rumors!!Omid12Omivar,....

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2017A removable battery wouldn't help anything. If the battery... moreWell non-removable batteries are smaller and their design is quite specific for every device (Which was the reason they were exploding in Note7 - the design), so i believe removable batteries are less likely to explode. First because you can use whatever desing you want and also because they will heat up less when they are separated by the plastic cover from the parts producing heat.
