James, 05 Sep 2018I am not the only guy who's complaining. Visit the samsung ... moreAgain, the key word is still depreciation. Might as well invest in a REAL business than individual gadgets that depreciate the moment you open the box. Hey, I spent $500 on paints, brushes and watercolor paper in the past 12 months. I earned way more than the materials cost because I made art using them - that's an investment.

Note9 is an incremental improvement from the Note8. Every model is, and the price point is Samsung matching with Apple's iPhones that do not have digital pen features that I need. Yet still, their fans are willing to pay. Blame Apple for raising up the price. I like cheap, but I like quality and usefulness even more. If you don't like the price and small differences, leave it. It was designed as such because Samsung is saving all the innovative stuff, and budgeting their releases TACTICALLY to stay in the game of high-end smartphones.

Looks like trading in your S9+ for next year's Note will not be as high for you. I expect we will spending some $1100 on a base Galaxy Note. I can say I can afford the price because I'm actually earning more efficiently with a Galaxy Note. I don't have to trade in anything.

You will see a lot of comment about trade value there. That's fact. Those who complain doesn't mean they can't buy. This people has enough money to purchase things. This people are not happy with what they are offering. That's it. I am one of those. If you benefit from it then good. But calling somebody a kid or a low paid guy just because they are whining is far more kiddo. You called it liability but you are telling me you did benefit from it and you are earning a lot. So now it become asset to you. Right?Who' kid now?=)

I do not care that even my Note8 is half the retail launch price because it has benefitted my teaching my classes about drawing techniques on a big screen, my projects be understood better, and I can sketch as a hobby. I used it to draw out a 10,000 X 4000 pixel resolution of a complex scene during my spare times, as an eventual big piece I want to create. I EARN even much more because a Galaxy Note with the S Pen is actually PRODUCTIVE. In a year, the $980 I spent on the Note8 has made my earnings more conveniently, because I actually use it for my work. That sum is no longer significant compared to the money I've earned from using it.

As I said, electronics depreciate in money value. It is a stupid idea in thinking the rebate value would be high that you will get that next new shiny toy, and very silly enough that a 10% increase in battery capacity is worth an extra $200-300.

As far as the Note9 is concerned, I would get it and pay the full price of $999 if I haven't gotten the Note8. All because I use the S Pen for my many roles and my passion for visual art. If you need battery, use power packs.

One main reason I want to exchange my s9+ to note 9 is to have a larger battery. Thats the only reason. Not for pen since I am using paper to write down my notes. It just so happen that I am very willing to buy s9+ at launch and wait for the note 9 since I thought I need to add only few bucks. But to my surprise I will add 500$. For that price I can buy a new note 8. Why would I trade if that's the case right?I can just buy a new phone. 2 is better than 1. I am happy to stay with s9+ if the battery is larger. I feel no difference with the s7 edge other than performance, and a slightly better camera in low light from s7 edge. I don't understand the logic behind 500$ bucks additional just for a few things that they added up to the note 8. If you go online iphone 8+ price is still the same since it was released. Why a 4month old s9+ losses 30% of its original price from release? How you feel about it?

rimzan, 05 Sep 2018samsung note 9 very good design and nice colours collection... moreif the device is new it takes some time until the battery won't drop so quickly because it's learning the way you use your phone and then it adapts itself

so after a week or two you will notice the battery not dropping so fast

I upgraded from note 5 and amazingly it does feels small i mean better to handle than note 5. And battery is amazing. I can have some juice left at end of 12 hours day with 4 hours screen on time. Good sound. If you have note 5 you should upgrade. I have 512 GBs by the way.

When Google are still charging $950 for the Pixel 2 XL which has last an older SOC, no headphone jack, no wireless charging, no expandable storage, and a mediocre screen, Samsung are offering the most bang for your buck.

James, 04 Sep 2018One should consider it. Trading is a good thing. Why keep... moreyou forget that economics doesn't take into account only the cost of parts to make the whole. you aren't paying top dollar just for a newer lte radio, a power-efficient amoled display, an ample battery, a pen, or an IP rating. you're also paying for service, convenience, security, satisfaction, peace of mind, and whatever else have-at-you emotional benefit you can get from purchasing a phone, or from anything at all for that matter. you're also paying for the future products of the company, the cost of researching what new innovation such company's brightest minds will cook up (or copy) for the coming years, the compensation of workers, laborers, managers, marketers, and investors. and yes, you are paying for the company's profits so that they get to reap from their own sweat and blood. at the end of the day, it's business. and no business operates without the intention to earn. samsung is no different from a typical business. it's a huge company with huge expenditures on salaries for their thousands of workers, on research and development, on operating their factories, on keeping their piece of the industry alive and kicking. it's nowhere near as simple as you naively surmise.

so the note9 is one expensive product. that's what you get when you put all of the above into consideration. if you can't afford it, you can just shut your mouth instead of pretending like you know anything other than what you decided to stuff into your head when you skipped class as a kid. because everything in your pretentious long post is a joke - smoke and mirrors that desperately try to hide the apparent fact that you really don't know what you're yapping about and that you're just pissed off you're a thousand bucks short.

I am an independent thinker. Just because all smartphone manufacturers are making big phones, does not mean they are right. They are not listening to people. They only reason, they are making bigger phones, is largely psychological to make people pay more for the next phone.

James, 04 Sep 2018One should consider it. Trading is a good thing. Why keep... moreDevices are not investments - they depreciate in value. I got my wife's 29-month-old S7 Edge since she now has a Note9. I'm not selling it even if it fetches $100-$200. I'm keeping it because the camera is very good, like I kept my Note 3 with a 10,000 mAh battery because it can record decent images and 4k video.

I use these as instruments to create. Even my old 8" Note 8.0 (2013) is working as my extra screen for drawing. The old phones I use to record my painting techniques for sharing to students in painting. One of them I use as a security camera.

I think the trend of paying $1000 for smartphone is becoming absurd - at first. Since I use the S Pen function for jotting and sketching my thoughts, a Galaxy Note is more functional than the $1000 iPhone X. My wife needed a jotting notes device for meetings, and I stopped her from getting the Note8 (my current) last May because I really know the Note9 would be an improvement with a $50 price difference.

I know, $1000 is the same price range of a gaming laptop. But thinking about it, i preferably be carrying something that's smaller and Miracast to the classroom tv to demonstrate how to draw, or manage my architectural design projects detail drawings. I figure out details by sketching. This is how I'm earning from a Galaxy Note. My job is easier with a Galaxy Note.

Why keep something with you until it loses value? You invest your hard earned money into something you called secured?then why I can't find my phone if it was stolen?this is what you called secured?then why so many tutorials in internet how to bypass protection algorithms?how to bypass FUP etc?this is what you called secure?in which technicians makes money because an average joe don't know how to properly remember a password?

Which features makes an expensive phone differ from a cheaper phone?a newer LTE radio that you can't even utilize since you carrier is giving you only either 1GB of data at full speed or Unlimited @ a slow speed but then throttled down to 512Kbps if you reached a quota?

                                - a power efficient display which is called AMOLED. But has burn in issues as time progress?
                                - a ample battery which can't last 1 day without turning off some features they are proud to put when marketing it?
                                - a pen that every 6 months you will replace because the head is worn off?or either you are not using at all because you have no idea how to use it?
                                - an IP protection which give you accidental touches if you decide to use on a pool when wet?

As I said the phone is good and packed with features. But one thing is disappointing. They don't have the guts to lose sales when the figures are low. Phones are basic part of life and I realized it doesn't need to be expensive. Besides which ever brand you go data collection is there. They are watching you and loads a tons of ads based on what you open. Thanks to security. right?

To remind you I use samsung phone. A pissed user

I am not surprised. Like Hyundai,Kia's and other korean brand who loses value as time progress. Compared to a Ford,Toyota's and Honda's.

Id rather buy iPhone if you are smart enough to reliaze that you are throwing money for a phone that losses value in months,in bold letters MONTHS literally. Unlike iPhones you get a lot better resale value. Think of it. You bought a lambo and after 3 months you wanna sell it and one buyer want it for corolla price.
