Anonymous, 29 May 2013Hi, I heard that this tablet cannot charge while connected ... moreLaptop USB ports battery have only about .5 Ampere rating. Supplied USB charger has a 2 Ampere rating. The Note 8.0 has a big battery of 4600mAh and needs a higher Ampere charger rating to be charged faster. The Note II is applied the same charger 2 Ampere rate, but the Ampere rating of a pc can charge the Note II at at slower rate.

The Note 10.1 can't be charged with a lower than 2A rated charger for its 7000mAh battery as well and some 2A rated portable battery can't charge it.

Thankfully, my old 7000mAh portable charger can power up the Note 8. The problem of it not charging via the pc is a minor issue. You can always get a laptop power adaptor with a 2A USB charging port to work.

I cant store files or apps on my note 8's sd card. Is this something to do with jellybean 4.1?????

AnonD-108298, 27 May 2013i bought this tablet couple of days ago. likes> powerf... moreHeating is an issue for all powerful tablets/devices. The Note 8 doesn't go over 40°C for me. What temperature are you registering? I agree with you on the battery stamina being short for heavier users.

At least a TPU back cover can solve the slippery gripping. If you were referring to the Nexus 7 being lighter - the Galaxy Note 8 is pretty much the same (GN8 2 grams lighter). A Nexus 7 is more affordable, yet lacks the productivity options the Note 8 offers, like a Wacom system with corresponding apps.

back is heating up quickly when playing games.
battery backup is bad.can't last a full day if you are a moderate to heavy user.
not so comfortable to hold in one hand for longer time, nexus 7 is better in this regard.atleast samsung should have tried to reduce the width with thinner bezel like ipad mini.and the tablet's plastic body is super smooth to hold.samsung could have tried something like nexus 7 for a better grip.

i will update you guys after using it for couple of weeks.

pls anyone do suggest me is samsung galaxy note 8.0 N5100 is a all purpose device. actually i need something with bigger screen, calling facility and gprs. With better display.

Mamun, 25 May 2013very poor ppi pixel. should be increased like S4First learn what you are commenting about. "very poor ppi pixel. should be increased like S4"? PPI is pixel per inch. So, when you say, "ppi pixel", you are saying "pixel per inch pixel".

PPI pertains to the number of pixel count at per 25.4mm or per inch linear measurement. So, when you say the Note 8's PPI "should be increased like the S4", you are asking the same 441ppi of the S4, therefore asking a 1728 by a 3072 pixel screen on the Note 8. You are asking for a 1728p screen.

This would add more task for the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) needing more power from the battery. It's impractical with today's battery technology and therefore an increased battery volume is needed that increases the net weight of the device.

You don't know what you're talking about and you just seem to try impressing people on screen density. Know what you're asking for properly.

I just bought thi beautiful device last week... people say here the dvice has poor battery, well thats not true.. it can take up to 1.5 days when using continuous wifi. The s-pen is very useful.... i like it movie player which id HD, i think its better to wat h movies here than un note 2. I sold my ipad because i get bored very easily. It doesnt have bluetooth, no sd card, memory cary(very limited)... i just missed the camera quality of my ipad and its beautiful appearance....... people say its awkward to use this note 8 as a phone but for me, it works so fine and i just want a all-in-1 gadget.. an HD movie player with larger screen, a notebook, sketchbook, something that u can do phonecalls and sms, fast net browser... i love my note 8 a lot.
