AnonD-77443, 22 Feb 2013Personally i would stick with 4.1.1.
There are no major ... moreThere have been 3 updates for Note 2 AFTER the 4.1.2 update, the battery is much much better with 4.1.2 and the other updates, ESPECIALLY on standby. Everyone should update, 4.1.1 is crap and full of bugs, many of which has been removed in 4.1.2.
All 3 updates may not be available in all regions yet but should be available in most of the world soon for sim free phones. The last was the least useful one so its ok if you dont get all 3 at once, two will do.

Actually your are wrong on the screen crispness.
Sure the Note 2 has less pixels than the SGS3 but it has more sub pixels (i.e. RGB not pentile). Android authoritys review indicates that there is no noticeable difference, if anything the note 2 may be crisper in the macro photos.
As well as this the note 2 has whiter whites and is a lot brighter as well as bigger so is clearly a better display than the SGS3.

I am glad that Samsung has incorporated a removable battery design as it comes in handy. Some other brand designs, particularly Sony has gone the fixed battery direction - their latest having some reports of only actually getting a total of continuous or accumulated 6-hour on screen time.
The aim of such a direction is achieving thin designs of under 9mm thickness. Honestly, I don't mind having something 9.4mm thick as the Note II so that it's a bit more solid to hold, yet still thinner than a normal A6 notebook to pocket.
Some would argue that a battery back jacket can help - the disadvantages are it becomes dead weight and current models show a low Ampere rating and making the device heat up. I've tried one for my Note 1.
While an extended battery like what Mugen is selling can double the capacity, again, it adds weight and thickness.
Even though the current 3100 mAh battery can give you some 12 hours of heavy surfing, download & occasional gaming usage, it can even offer more than 24 hours or even 2 days of light to moderate usage - I still would advise to get the official charger + extra battery for an efficient and safer charging management. I have 2 extra official batteries & the charger.

Some of disadvantages of this:
*It's a hassle to take off the protective layer (especially an Otterbox Defender) to change the batteries.
*It's a bother to carry an extra battery.
Some advantages:
*This reduces the possibility of your battery exploding in the device while it charges.
*You keep your Note II practically wireless - no need to stay and wait to charge and the wire in the way.
*You need not carry the wired charger or an odd power bank.
*Added security as some people would leave their device while charging and it leaves it vulnerable to being snatched. If you need to really charge the battery when you're out of town or travelling, the separate battery charger is keeps you from worrying about losing your device.
*Recycling batteries would greatly increase their life capacities.
*Keeps you from worrying about running out of power allowing you full usage of your device all the time you need it.
Even with full 1080p screen-resolution smartphones are coming out, I still am disappointed at the battery consumption rate because there's a lot more pixels to process - 1080 x 1920! I do however would like to see the Note III with a full resolution and I think with the launched Exynos double quad-core processor claiming a 70% reduction of power consumption, I could am convinced Samsung can pull another 20-hour or more heavy usage device on a full charge.

hannoun, 21 Feb 2013hey guys. my note 2 is still on android 4.1.1 and i'm not g... morePersonally i would stick with 4.1.1.
There are no major upgrades with 4.1.2 except customisable quick settings and home screen UI improvements.
BUT 4.1.2 battery life isn't as good especially when in sleep mode.
