It took me a day of hesitation till I decided to root the Note II to regain everything - S Note, data for each apps, game levels, configurations, etc. Rooting is the only way possible so that you use an app like Titanium Backup Pro to restore everything like from an old device. It gains access to the restricted parts of the device.
You can freeze, totally uninstall even stock apps that usually can't, and make a backup in the SD card or cloud services. I stayed the unrooted way for a year for the warranty, but heck, I now wished I learned how to root from the start as I missed the full potential of my first SG Note!
But transferring the entire stuff from a totally different system is a bit of a problem though.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2013Please is there any android software for switching devices ... moreFiles can easily be transfered to android by cable or USB otg.
Apps cant be transfered as its a different OS.
You should be able to sync your BB contacts with gmail? once you have done this they will automatically sync to android when you login with your gmail account.
I also sync my phone and outlook using sync2. Its a paid PC app worth about $30.

I am a blackberry user but considering a full switch to Android. Just worried about how I will transfer files, apps, contacts etc to a new phone if I need to move from my first Android to another one. I kinda like that functionality in the Blackberry desktop software.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2013Note 2 is just a pinch over note one, why on earth you guys... moreActually, a lot of people use smart phones for a lot more then texting and phonecalls.
For me the Note 2 was a massive step up from the note 1 in build quality, processing power, looks and battery life.
The big step up of the note 3 (rumored) will be the screen size. On top of that you will get noticeably better camera, processor, battery etc.
International phone warranty only lasts 12 months therefore i update every 12 months..... i can generally sell my old phone, claim my new one on tax and it doesn't cost me a cent. :-)

Note 2 is just a pinch over note one, why on earth you guys are dying fr an outdated model when SGD 4 ad noye 3 on the way. just sell ur set now and see loss with difference of 500$ plus when u buy nxt model. open your eyes as its numbers game slowly each cam gpu chip size is alyered to attract buyers. calling receiving txt bt wifi etc are basic needs ad are wrll met by old models, be content with them.

Is there a step-by-step set of instructions available for the Samsung Note II ? The phone is loaded with nice features but no instructions on how to use them.

mo, 10 Feb 2013Neighbour. I believe you're an architect. So am i. What do ... moreThe Galaxy Note II has changed my working habits since the first version.
As an architect, I use:
*Smart Tools - pendulum, distance estimates, bearings, height estimates.
*Camera - Site construction progress, things client might like to buy
*Drawing - details to Foreman/engineer
*CAD viewer - review; mark changes
*Teamviewer - you can do full cad & Sketchup anywhere with remote controlling your laptop (delayed but you don't need to carry one and plug in)
*S Note - meetings, design developments, punch list
As presenter in school:
*HDMI connected to projector
*Wireless AllShareCast dongle would mirror your screen too
*live markups with the S Pen
*Teamviewer can access my laptop for files I need
And as you can see, the Note can offer some level of art making. All that and more in your pocket - well, small belt bag with the accessories.

Derhunter23, 10 Feb 2013I know you are a Note2 user but then Note3 is just around t... moreI would get the Galaxy Note III with all the processing goodness (after seeing it thoroughly) for all my needs. My theory for it being 6.3" screened and not pocketable as the first two is based on the rumor of the Galaxy S IV being 5" & has an S Pen.
I'll figure out another special casing for the GN3.
As for the Note 8", wait and feel if you really need something that big. I wouldn't mind the high resolution (of it will be full HD).
