A protective cover is the best way to prevent damage. No matter how careful you can be, there is always a possibility that you can drop this baby.
I recently saw a cover that is "military grade" (that's what it said!) that cost around $12.

The biggest pro for this is that it's more fully protective than Otterbox' Defender cover (costs $60!) with those cover for the camera, earphone jack and S pen. And the biggest cons are that it's hard to take off and the metal conductive buttons for the back and menu keys don't work all the time.
It's important for me that it can be opened really to change to fresh batteries. This is currently what I do use:

It's a silicon and hard plastic combination with corner bumpers. The slightly front raised silicon edge is good for absorbing the shock of you drop the Note the glass facing a flat surface.
If budget permits, do spend on the Otterbox' Defender or at least its Commuter casing.

I was very lucky, I also dropped my note from my Jeans pocket and got away with a minor scratch near the USB connector.

My note was placed in my handbag(I use leather cover for my note), when I turn it fell. It was about 90cm distance to the ground. I can't believe a gorilla glass can crack that easily even with 90cm away from the ground!The screen hit on the floor directly. Ya, the samsung centre said it was human error, so the ori warranty won't work, I have to paid..

I have updated my note to version 4.0.3 for almost 2 months now, and I hate it! Now the software keeps getting hang ups and moreover the battery life is now terrible. It doesn't last for a half day with average usage of 3G. I do not make many phone calls, only checking emails using the push service. Any ideas about the battery life? Is the 4.0.4 version more stable and saves battery?
Also, I will be flying to UK shortly, is the 4.0.4 version available there??

i just updated my (factory stocked unlocked)international galaxy note gt-n7000... i had it since feb. 12th. now its asking me for a network unlock key code to get service on my phone... why is this, if its an factory version of the note. i am very upset. can anyone help me please..!!!!!

My battery is weak even after updating to ics 4.0.4. Is there any way to make it last longer orvis 4.1 the only soln. Thanks in advance.

it is good over all and i like it
Fast. Reliable .bright screen. Good signal . Good quality pics and videos
The only thing is that it has weak WIFI 9 meters between me and the router plus 2 thin walls in between and signal is poor with interuption while ipad and pc it is much better
But still i recommend this phone cause i have tried others like iphone4 but for me g.note is much better
I hope samsung improve the WIFI antenna in next generations

... i upgraded my NOTE using Kies .. its showing the version 4.0.4 , but still MENU system is different from GALAXY S3 .... why so ? can i het the same menu as of Galaxy 3 .

The screen too easily cracked, and the repair cost where equal to half price of this note. What a waste of money, stupid phone based from my experience. In another word, I regretted I should get a laptop instead.
