Izzy, 16 May 2012For quite sometime now, i've been longing for a smart phone... moreThe Note is my very first premium smart phone that has met my needs as I am an architect, college instructor, sketcher, blogger and and movie buff.

Here are some of the most common complaints that come up since the release of the Galaxy Note:

*It's too big - So you still can't shake off the common usage of smaller screen phones. When the S II came out with a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus screen, we heard the same complaint. Now, a 4.3" screen is considered outdated since 4.7" to 4.8" screens are becoming a norm. The 5.3" Super HD AMOLED screen of the Galaxy Note has a resolution that has more pixels than my 10" netbook has! And it plays and takes 1080p HD videos. It fits nicely in most top shirt pockets and normal jeans pockets as it is the size of a passport or a small Moleskine notebook.

*It only has a PenTile AMOLED screen construction than an AMOLED Plus type - Do you look at the screen with a magnifying glass? That's right - you can't really tell any difference with some 280+ ppi density against the 220+ ppi of the S II's screen. As recent revelations by Samsung's decision for the S III's to go with a PenTile Super HD AMOLED screen since it will lasts longer than a "Plus".

*The S Pen is a gimmick - Some people don't get what it really is. It uses a sensor system developed by Wacom placed behind the AMOLED screen that only works with the included S Pen. It's an active type of stylus system, and not a resistive (the first generation of touch screens that senses pressure on the screen) nor a capacitive (that responds to more to the slightest finger touch and rubber-tipped stylus) type, athough it has still the latter to operate.

*It has a short battery life - yes and no. If you are a heavy user like me, with 3G internet, internet radio, and applications on most of the time, a full charge can go only up to 6 to 7 hours. Instead of complaining about the short amount of power because of the way I use the Galaxy Note, I got 2 extra batteries and a charger for them to avoid plugging and waiting to power up while out of the house. What's less than a minute of changing batteries than charging for 4 hours? If you are quite busy with work and would access the Note from time to time only, it can go to some 18 hours, which is enough till you get home to charge it again. For super heavy usage, like downloading torrents, continuously surfing the net with sites with white backgrounds and playing 3D games, it can go only for 4 hours. Unless you use the Galaxy Note with light usage with wifi, GPS, data network, bluetooth off and not install any other apps, it can go on for days of standby as reported by some. But why do that with a powerful unit designed to connect to the internet?

*The bezel of the Galaxy Note is cheap plastic - It's flexible plastic for the back cover, some shiny hard plastic on the sides and the front has the Gorilla glass that we know to be scratch resistant (not scratch proof). Hardcore Apple unit users complain about Android phones as cheap plastic copies of their favorite brand. Polycarbonate (plastic as we know it) is logical in terms for better internal antenna reception and accidental drops. In the end, most of us will have some external cover to help protect our precious devices from scratches and accidental drops. I've heard of a friend of a colleague of mine shattering the Galaxy Note's front glass after a waist high drop. I dropped the my Galaxy Note at that same height last month but thanks to a casing that is similar to the Otterbox' Commuter series, damage was done due the shock absorbency of the casing's thickened silicon corners and back plastic reinforcement.

*The speaker is not load enough - yes, it was designed as a good notifier for messages and calls. But when you are in a crowded or noisy area, watching a movie with it is hard to understand. That's when you need the earphones or bluetooth stereo earhones/headphones.

And some average users don't know some of the things what the Galaxy Note (and any most Android smartphones) are capable of:

*use of wired/wireless keyboard and mouse
*connect wired/wirelessly as an HD media player
                            *remote control a PC
*measures approximate distance, height, angle, vibration, sound, metal detection, compass with an app called Smart Tools (great for my site job)
                            *download torrents
*the CamScanner app makes turns the Note into a portable book copier and turns the pages to compiled PDF
*Fine digital art works can be achieved better with the S Pen than a finger
*It has a very strong LED bulb when you need to use it as a flashlight
*the pre-installed Polaris Office app is almost a full Microsoft Office alternative where you can edit Excel spreadsheets, Powerpoint slides, and Word processing.

Whew! I guess I've covered what generally how good the Galaxy Note is, for anyone who identify that its features are what they are looking for. It's still up to you to choose something else.

This is the best smart phone i have ever seen. My question is basically on the internet charges. For instance if one is using internet facility on the normal phone, the tariff/charge is not as much as using it on Laptop or Ipad. Which one does Galaxy 7000 belongs.

I also like to play safe; therefore, I don't think it will void the warranty or will create any other sort of fuss for you.

                                Best of luck.

2 GB is more than sufficient.
I have installed Asphalt (~ 1GB) and Real football (~500 MB). The game data is there on the SD card.
