Anonymous, 30 May 2012what is android versionANDROID is Google's smartphone platform.... almost like the iPhone but with a few differences. If you can navigate an iPhone then you should have no trouble with an ANDROID ... BTW, ANDROID is now the number 1 smartphone in the USA (as of this summer 2012) ...

BB, 01 Jun 2012Price at Walmart is $179.99. I have the IPhone 4 and tired... moreI have this phone and can say that it is unlimited ONLY for the native apps that come pre-installed on the phone. If you add apps then the cut off is at 2 gigs of data and NO, there is no roaming with this phone. It works only on Verizon pre-paid 3g network... any where in the USA that there is a tower... NO home area with this phone. Home areas went out few years back with most carriers...

DO NOT GET THIS PHONE!!!! I got mine on July 9th of this year... Had it less than 3 months. Two days ago, my phone did what many others who've had this phone for about 2 months have also complained about. Phone suddenly showed the "no service" sign. I put it into airplane mode and it got stuck in that. Finally gave in and did a factory reset on the phone, hoping this would fix the problem. It did get it out of airplane mode, but still had the "no service" signal, and basically no good for use other than as an extremely expensive paperweight! I'm going to be sending it back, and just pray (fingers crossed, especially after reading that some people are on their 3rd or 5th Proclaim) that it doesn't have the same problem again. Unfortunately, this is the only smart phone available through Straight Talk for use in my area. Otherwise I would DEFINITELY be going with a different phone!! Don't let good reviews by people who haven't had this phone very long fool you!! Up until this happened, I would have given the phone a great review too, but now after researching into it I've discovered this seems to be a fairly common problem with the Proclaim! There's obviously some kind of manufacture defect with the Proclaim. Maybe this doesn't happen to everyone's Proclaim, but with as frequently as it does happen, you have to ask yourself if you want to take the chances that you will be one of the many that does have this happen!

Anonymous, 25 Sep 2012I bought the Samsung proclaim about a month and a half ago ... moreDude, got another Proclaim like my review said, a week in and it did the same thing as the first phone, "universal no" symbol instead of bars. If I put it in "Airplane Mode" I had to take out the battery and "hard boot" it to get it back in operating order. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Straight Talk this time and thankfully dropped off my second Proclaim at FedEx this morning. I have read several customer reviews, one guy was on his fifth Proclaim and still having issues so, it's not an isolated incident. BTW, I was about a month and a half in before my first Proclaim imploded so you're about due... Good luck!

I bought my first Samsung Galaxy Proclaim from WalMart back in July of this year. The phone kept getting extememly hot when I charged it. Six weeks in the phone died, no phone signal, no internet, no bars... nothing. Where the bars should be there was a "universal no" symbol (a circle with a slash through it), I called Straight Talk and I was on the phone with them for TWO HOURS straight before they finally admitted the phone was faulty and agreed to send a new one. Within two weeks of receiving the new phone (which took a week and a half), the new phone died, exact same symptoms as the first. I thought I was being smart when I bought the phone, I did my research, the text blogs loved it, thought it was great for a low-end smartphone ($180 is low end?) What I failed to read was the reviews from actual customers...lesson learned. Everybody loves the phone at first but soon come to hate it with the same unbridled passion that I do. This phone is a cheap IPhone ripoff, as evidenced by Apple's successful lawsuit against Samsung. If I can save one person from the aggravation of owning this p.o.s. then I will feel vindicated that my pain and aggravation has helped one person avoid the same. As of late I have been in an infuriating back and forth with Straight Talk including many, many phone calls and emails. They assure me that my return slip email is on the way. When nothing arrives days later I call again, same assurances, same result. None of their support staff speak English as a first language by the way, be prepared to ask them every question about three times before you understand their responses. Heed my warning, stay away from this phone. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell you family, this phone is a stinking piece of rotted fecal matter and so is Straight Talk's customer service.

I got this about a week ago and like it a lot except for one thing. It says it has a standby time of around 16 days. I have to charge mine every single night or it quits about noon. That is a LONG way from 16 days. And that's if I don't even use it.

I got my phone as a gift. Its the best gift ever. It does take time to learn how to use it and type on the keyboard. its like anything else. Take the time and get use to it. It does almost anything that the expensie phone does for cheaper. way to go straight talk and samsung. THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE ABOUT THEY WILL NOT LET U HOOK THE PC UP AND RUN THE NET OFF THE PHONE AS MODEM. If i could do that be perfecr. Buy a stylus from amizon it help i am using it now.

I purchased the Proclaim, yesterday, having reached intolerable frustration: My internet service at home was on the blink for two days! I have an office (private practice)in town, another half-time job, and 20 acres at home (in the woods and under a hill) to care for. I was feeling completely disorganized between the three sets of responsibilities. For phones, I have SKYPE through the internet as my home phone and a cell phone for my office (but no internet service there) and no cell phone reception in my home, -- one bar in the driveway. I needed a solution; 1) to organize myself, 2) to catch phone calls at home from my private practice clients, 3) to add the internet to my private practice. When DSL failed at home, I was at a loss. And, I am dependent on the net, having owned computers since the 1980s -- Apple and MAC but I didn't want an expensive iPhone or an expensive plan.I investigated and learned that a new tower owned by US Cellular would provide reception to my house but I was too cheap to go with US Cellular at $90 for an unlimited plan or $80 for Verizon (a leasee on the tower). Somehow I ended up at Walmart, learned about the Proclaim on the Verizon network. I read its mostly good reviews and after several weeks of debating, took the plunge last night. The Proclaim is a mini computer with cell phone service. This morning I downloaded Skype and Kindle, hooked in my three e-mail accounts, used the calendar app on Proclaim to organize my appointments and work at home, in my office, and at the job. After I got the hang of Android, Proclaim was so easy and quick for the most part. I feel that I have stepped into the modern world on-the-cheap. Thank you, Straight Talk. Thank you Samsung!

sidpark, 23 Jun 2012Does anyone know where to get covers for this phone? You can get cases for this phone at Amazon. They have some nice ones but don't buy from ExtremeCases. You will be waiting a month for the case. Think they wait till they get a big bunch of orders then order for China. So u will be waiting quite awhile.
