I am super satisfied! Upgraded from my s9 and it's great for the price I paid...

The phone was 1,200$, 600$ discount for trade in program, 200$ discount promotion and 200$ loyalty discount which made the phone drop to only 200$! Got one for my dad also !! :)

I needed a new small phone so i got the S21. With discount and trade in, the price was not cheap but very acceptable. I even got a free wireless charger. Obviously a downgrade from S20, but why not : still a very nice phone. Screen is beautiful, and 256 GB is enough for me. Cameras excellent and speakers loud and clear. You surely can get better specs with those other chinese flagships, but I've already had bad experience with them, all specs but terrible usage. I don't need the best phone, just a flagship grade in small size. One UI 3 is easy to use, and with SmartSwitch the migration was super easy. The violet/gold colour is beautiful, nice change from all the same looking phones...So up to now pretty happy with it, no regret. As I don't want to carry a brick, and as usual with most skinny phones, battery is the weakest point.

First flagship I've ever bought, so all this is in comparison to a 2017 mid range.

+ Fast. Yeah, even on the Exynos it feels very quick. I don't game though, so I'm not really pushing it.
+ Screen is a very good size - big without making the phone too big - and the 120hz is fantastic. If 1080p is the price of having that refresh rate it is WELL worth it.
+ Lots of camera options (lenses, stabilisers, zooms etc.), and the 120hz lets you actually view your high fps videos.
+ Looks nice. Not a boring black box. The shiny rose gold edging has grown on me.

                      - I had trouble getting music files onto the phone from a laptop, but this may have been the fault of the laptop or USB cord I was using. Resorted to running an FTP server on the phone. Not something I need to do often, though.
                      - Some issues with the camera:
                      1. 64MP main camera is only available in the Samsung camera app, and only in the 'photo' or 'video' mode and literally nowhere else, not even in the 'pro' or 'portrait' modes. I have a 'system report' app that lists the specs and other stuff and it reports the main camera as being only 12MP. So you can use the 64MP to get some nice photos/UHD video, but you have to do it Samsung's way.
                      2. Switching between modes can cause the phone to lag*
                      3. I took a 'night mode' photo that looked extremely low-res. I haven't had much experience with this sort of photography, though, so maybe I just need practice.

*This may have been due to a dodgy app that was running in the background, constantly hogging the CPU. Samsung have also updated the camera since I last used it. There's a 'enhanced data processing' option in quick settings you might want to toggle on when using the camera.

Overall really happy with it, just a bit more of a learning curve with the camera than there should be. Software, battery life, storage (I got the 256GB) are all fine. It does everything I want really well. I wish it had a headphone jack but I got bonus air buds with a pre-order.

What is Samsung doing ??? Even S10 from two years had a beautiful curved screen with 1440 x 3040 pixels. And now S21 has only 1080 x 2400 pixels...(like the cheap A31 !). New phones should have better specs, especially flagships, not worse.

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2021xiaomi: 1080p screen and no sd card on 1000 dollar phones ... moreXiaomi is Xiaomi , it is not known for best display like Samsung was . Samsung since first galaxy s series they had the best display on the market for that time . Just like iPhone fans buy it for ios , Samsung fans buy for display quality . Never in S-series History a new phone has lower features compare to the old one , specialy the Display . Look at specs and compare s20 5g with s21 5g . Dude you put 8k video recording on a 1080p display ? Isn t that like putting a ferrari engine to a yaris ?

I moved from an S9+, which is very close in size to the S21, and I think that's a better comparison. I get another camera, and the cameras are probably better. They are still not good enough that I'd give up a DSLR. It's nice to get something with a camera that costs a fraction of the price of a lens though.

The fingerprint scanner on the back was convenient, and I could hold the phone comfortably with my finger there, so I didn't need to move it to scan. I could also move my finger up or down to open or close the notification panel or get to the quick settings. The fingerprint scanner on the S21 was easier to get used to than I expected.

I can still use face scan but feel less secure with it than with iris scan added in, so I have the added inconvenience of needing a fingerprint more often. A compromise such as face unlock in trusted zones would have been nice.

Battery life is better so far, but part of that is the age of the old phone. I don't think I'll end up charging fewer times than I did with a new S9+.

I also lose the biometric scanner. It did a good job with pulse and o2sat. It was less accurate with blood pressure, and Samsung didn't even include that in the app. I'm not buying a smart watch to get those back though. I don't need those enough that I couldn't give them up, but it certainly made it less than an instant decision.

Ultimately, I got a good deal from my carrier so it wasn't a question of the money. It was a question of whether it was worth giving up some features instead of paying for a new battery, and getting a newer OS with two potential future upgrades. I can't think of a thing I've done with it so far that my old phone wouldn't do aside from using an extra camera.

I did also lose my memory card, which had allowed me to keep all my photos. And I lost the headphone jack, which meant buying an adapter. And it didn't come with a charger, ostensibly for environmental reasons and under the assumption that I had one. But it turned out that this uses a PD charger so I still needed to buy one for fast charging. It didn't come with the adapter for the USB cable that phones came with in the past. It was no problem for me, but for somebody with an older phone (S7) it was a problem. That adapter would have worked for people regardless of which old phone they had. It came with a double ended USB-C cable, which does no good with an old charger and helps no more than providing the adapter. Buying a new charger was slightly cheaper with a cable than without one.

sorry but that's not the reason to upgrade s21 is downgrade devices no heart rate no spo2 no iris scanner no headphone jack no SD card you know what f this s21 mid-range device if samsung wants to atone then bring back iris scanner and dual apertures camera and heart rate oh wait they won't give us because they have so-called marketing people to mock apple then follow the same steps if you want to down vote comment then do i don't care about so-called fanboy system even if so some called fanboy want to comment on this feel free because i won't look on to you all things said samsung if you want to do business with me provide iris scanner and heart rate back or else GTFO and start running a grocery shops that would suit you better hangsung lagaxy you attracting more haters by removing features then so be it GTFO with devices and get ready open a grocery stores that would suit you better when you are removing everything from chargers to features then who f you are apple or a grocery store
