Anonymous, 30 Nov 2022It has IP68No official IP rating for the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
If you want to hear a guy saying it:
              https://youtu.be/_LAgpjjVqDs?t=108

There's the usual excuse that getting an official IP rating costs money, and the model still "might" offer some water resistance. I falled on this trap with the poco F2 pro (motherboard died) . Either there's an official IP rating, or I consider it's not water resistant.

There's only three models from Xiaomi with IP68 rating, according to gsmarena phone finder:
              - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra
              - Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro
              - Xiaomi 12S Ultra

No resistance to water for the "12 pro" model. As I killed mt poco F2 pro with water, and without even noticing it (I suppose there was a bit some some water on the table, or too much sweat on my hands), that's a deal breaker to me. I've also replaced the stock rom to a one from "Xiaomi Eu" just to avoid ads, and got constant problems with the launcher. The only thing I miss from Xiaomi, is the more detailed/natural pics, I could take with the cam. And the macro mode, provides lot of fun.

Doesn't matter tho, i'm not going to pay a hefty sum to get a phone with so much compromises and cut corners just for a flat screen, i'd rather deal with a curved screen again
Anyway i'm only interested in Android, i have never used an iPhone and never intend or care to. Sony doesn't sell phones in my country so that's off the table as well
I'm gonna take a look at the Xiaomi 12 pro tomorrow at the store, that's the only interesting phone i managed to find
There was the Oneplus 10 but the selfie camera being on the left was a deal breaker so forget about that

Almost all recent high-end models have a curved screen (or at least, slightly curved ). So good luck at finding something better than the S22+ . Beside Iphone 14, there's the Sony Xperia 1 IV. Unfortunately, it has heating issues according to gsmarena review.

After 3 years with the Note 10+, i was ready to move on and this phone would have been perfect with its flat screen
But that screen is 1080p without LTPO and the phone only has 8 gb of ram with 256 gb non expandable storage? My Note 10+ has 1440p, 12 gb ram and 512 gb EXPANDABLE storage
After 3 annoying years with a curved screen i instantly loved the flat screen on this phone but with all these compromises, i can't justify spending $1k on a literal downgrade
I'm also not interested in Ultra in the slightest. Gonna check out Xiaomi and Oneplus, see what they have to offer

Anonymous, 25 Nov 2022Why did they even remove the SD card slot I still don'... moreFor money, as simple as that
Everything they removed from a phone or the box was for money
Without an SD card, if you run out of storage, you're forced to buy cloud storage and unlike an SD card, you pay for that monthly. Easy money
Without a headphone jack, they now have a reason to shove those extremely expensive bluetooth headphones in your face and people are more inclined to buy them instead of bothering with dongles
Without a charger in the box, you have to buy one yourself or spend 5 hours charging with your old slow chargers
People who defend them for this by coming up with lame excuses are the easiest ones to steal money from and companies like Samsung and Apple exploit people like that

Why did they even remove the SD card slot
I still don't understand. They had an excuse (even if it was a really bad one) for removing the charger but not for the SD

Just buy the S22 ultra if you have that extra requirement that makes little difference for a serious/average user. I think that's what is the S22 ultra about.
