joe, 03 Feb 2023should i get the S22+ or the normal S23?Choose S22+

Omg... Look at the specs... Is this a joke? And s23 also! Incredible pricing for nothing... My s10+ and note10+ are way better than this ones! Keeping those for now... Screens, battery, SD card, jack. Seems like the upgrade is in fact a downgrade. I probably switch to the new Xperia line this year! For me having a full no notch/hole screen, sd card and a 3.5mm Jack is important! Just my opinion/liking, please do not throw stones in me 😅. Cheers.

Even though S23 is almost out, I will keep this phone until samsung comes with something different (new model, more storage, more camara resolution and display resolution is more than 1080) still have 4 updates on this one, so It's a keeper for the next 4 years to come.

I had an opportunity to test this phone for 1.5 months and decided to keep it. My review is also comparing it with another phone I owned in the past Huawei P30 Pro which might come handy for someone.

+ pictures can be set to HEIC format which significantly improves storage volume

+ possibility to set standard resolution for 16:9 for pictures 9Mpx

+ generally picture quality is comparable to Huawei P30 Pro but not that impressive

+ stunning 4K@30fps video quality, especially in combination with HDR10+ mode

+ excellent smoothness from moving between cameras wide / standard / tele. it's possible to tap and quick zoom in/out or smoothly zoom in/out. this is way better than Huawei P30 Pro

-/+ no success in configuring VPN IPSec XAuth PSK but successfully configured VPN IPSec MSCHAPv2 (with more modern Asus Router) natively

+ success in configuring OpenVPN out of the box natively (with native application)

+/- Samsung is the only reasonable Android manufacturer that supports eSIM (second one is Apple). however for traveling it's still unusable due to the fact that most of the global eSIM providers (except one) offer data packages only WITHOUT calls/sms included which are yet more expensive that buying a local SIM card in a particular destination. so good for data diversification but one still needs to purchase local SIM card for calling/sms or use expensive home plans.

            - pictures in all resolutions better S22+ than Huawei P30 Pro (leading camera on the market back in 2021) at 4:3 (12Mpx vs 10 Mpx), 13:6 (7.4 Mpx vs 6.1 Mpx) for main cam and zoom cam (3x vs 5x) (12Mpx vs 19 Mpx) for ULTRA-wide screen cam (16 mm)

            - pictures on 4:3 resolution worse S22+ than Huawei P30 Pro 4:3

            - efficient 4K format not available in combination with experimental HDR10+ and vice versa. however available either one or another

            - 4K@60fps is equal in quality as 4K@30fps (file little bigger) but excellent quality

            - HDR10+ is not available for 4K@60fps only in lower resolutions starting with 4K@30fps

            - in colder weather 4K@30fps videos are sometimes laggy (skipping) at the start of play via default Gallery application. I suspect this might be due to temperature since at room temperatures all is fine

            - no support for VPN type PPTP but thanks to cutting support of less secure connection since Android 12 https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s22-series/vpn/td-p/5130839
