Gsmarena: Why don't you make battery life test. Our last decision to buy or to ignore is battery life so please do it that test.

It's 3rd day using S22. Charged full in the morning now is 11:30 and phone is at 40%... So bad battery life, worse than my 2year old S20. Don't count on more than 4:30h screen on Time.

babak, 04 Mar 2022go for zenfone 8, zenfone has all things you needI checked that out but it is really thick too. Even thicker. I'm thinking of the Xiaomi 11 lite NE, it's rly light and thin but 90hz refresh, a bit bigger though and with only slightly bigger battery. Hard to find a perfect phone.

Hi, could you suggest this, or s21fe? and why?

Charged S22 today at 14:00 to 100%, now is 23:00 and i have 6% left. So basically battery last half day, no way you can get full day unless you do nothing. Accu Battery estimates 4h screen time. New S22 has worse battery than 2 year old S20.... disappointed!

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2022I was wondering why GSMArena didn't do base S22 yet. ... moreBattery sucks even on ultra version. yes, standby time is decent, yes, one day is do-able on ultra and plus version. But these are supposed to NOT be mainstream phones used by majority people, on basic apps. These are "flagship" phones used by power users, and trust me, a power user will not be happy with such battery life, especially when these phones are NEW. Imagine two years later.
Vanilla s22's battery life is a MEME, no matter how much throttling or limiters you put on, no matter how much you optimise the background usage, it will be MEME. Which is probably the biggest irony here, samsung got MORE battery life out of a note 8 than s8+, where note 8 had smaller battery, larger display, AND overclocked chipset. But we all know that is history today.
my s8 can still do one day, after 5 years. When it was new, it could do at least double and half more!

I was wondering why GSMArena didn't do base S22 yet.
It's not because of the lack of access, but because of the battery, they know how bad it performs and if they were honest in their review it would stop people from buying it and that wouldn't make Samsung happy.
As others have notices already, reviewers are using the same language while describing S22 lineup, which means something behind the scenes is happening.
Go through the reddit and you'll see how much people complain about the battery and through what lengths they go trying to make it better.
Some of them even returned their phones...
Samsung phones are not optimized, and all of this shenanigans with 2 processors is causing an even bigger problem with optimization, not to mention crap engineering.
For a phone that costs this much, you shouldn't bang your head against the wall trying to figure out if the battery will last you a day or not - with normal usage!
No one expects the battery to last the whole day with heavy gaming.
We just want S22 with even remotely decent battery life.

They are super cheap, that is why.
They cut corners everywhere possible YET INCREASE THEIR PRICES thinking we're stupid. Dude, even the battery is a joke on this one. Less than 4000mAh on a flagship tier expensive phone? Come on!

I noticed a distinctly worse performance from the speakers as compared to my S10e: those on the S22 are quieter, tinnier, and tend to distort more easily. I wonder why Samsung decided to use ostensibly cheaper components on the newer phone?

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2022I have 8gb ram now with my S10 and it works like crap on An... moreYep, I've noticed it being really laggy and unresponsive on Android 12 as well on my Galaxy S10e. Ran perfectly fine on Android 11. It really feels like Samsung is willing to give these extra years of Android updates so that they can slow your old phone down more and more with the latest versions. This processor should be more than capable of running Android 12 if the weaker chips in eg the Pixel 5 can handle it fine.

aaronwt, 03 Mar 2022How is it more reliable? I traded in my launch S21(SD) for ... moreAllow me to elaborate what I meant:
S21 is still capable and proven reliable, yet cheaper to get new now, much cheaper.
It is not that big of a difference that one should consider an upgrade.
From waht I have seen (photo-wise), the S21 is more consistant with images. Yes, I believe S22 is capable of taking better photos, but it would feel like a one in many (unless an update fixed that)
I own neither but I did test them and I people who have them. I even occasonally visit a dealer and test their cameras over and over just to be sure it isn't just in my mind. I brought people with me and asked for their opinions too.
I almost went for S22, but the tiny battery and high price made me pause. I will wait for a price drop or a flagship with a similar price like the xFind 50 or something else to show up, since I already bought a value flagship that is amazing in every aspect except the camera.

That is the problem. It shouldn't feel noticeably faster. They are not that different in hardware. If you were upgrading from S10 then yes. I can only explain that situation: Samsung is deliberately slowing down 1 year old phones on purpose.

l am still using S10 and ofc it is slow compared to S22 l don't see a reason to upgrade.
