8GB RAM
and 3700 mAh battery
Will this be enough for better performance for the next Android versions like v13?
Why is Samsung making new smartphones with such limits?

I've been on Android 12 since Thanksgiving. It's working great for me on my S21 with 8GB of RAM. Just like it did with Android 11.

aaronwt, 11 Feb 2022The absolute fastest microSd card available is still only o... more>And that is assuming the reader in the phone could even reach those speeds. Which they can't.
How can you assume the speed of the card reader that doesn't exist? LMAO
>So the fastest Micro SD cards have read speeds of around 270MB/s(2.16Gb/s) compared to the S21 which has read speeds of 1370 MB/s (10.96 Gb/s).
I'd love to hear about your use cases where you're needing to transfer so much data so quickly on your smartphone that the difference between 270MB/s and 1370MB/s becomes relevant to you. Especially when we consider the fact that microSD cards are most often used as mostly static storage for photos, videos, and other relatively small documents, the only limitation really of SD cards here is they probably wouldn't be able to record in the 8K video mode - which nobody actually uses on these phones anyways and is a waste of storage space.
>I have no desire to even use a MicroSD card.
Just because YOU don't want to ensure your media is safe in the case of the phone dying, doesn't mean nobody else is.
>Most phones do not have external storage any more. Samsung is not doing anything different than other manufacturers.
The classic "it's okay because everyone else is doing it" defense. For the record, lower-priced phones still have SD cards - even ones from Samsung - and heavily advertise the feature.
>Cloud storage is abundant.
... Cool? I don't see how that's relevant to- no. wait. There's no way you're actually trying to suggest cloud storage as a replacement for on-device removable storage? That's hilarious! Anyways, get back to me with that whole "cloud storage" argument when I can get 512gb of cloud storage for a single purchase of $60 that stays with me wherever I go - and oh yeah, that I can still access when I'm not online.
How does it feel to be going to bat for these tech giants that actively do not have your interests in mind and just want to squeeze every dollar out of you that they can? Do you think they're going to recognize you for your valiant efforts?

tituskl, 11 Feb 2022If you buy a cheap microSD card, then yes, it will be slow.... moreThe absolute fastest microSd card available is still only one fifth the speed of the internal storage of the S21. And that is assuming the reader in the phone could even reach those speeds. Which they can't.
So the fastest Micro SD cards have read speeds of around 270MB/s(2.16Gb/s) compared to the S21 which has read speeds of 1370 MB/s (10.96 Gb/s).
And that is the S21. The S22 should have read speeds from internal storage equal to or faster than the S1.
So no. A MircoSd is not anywhere close to the speed of the internal storage. Which is why I have no desire to even use a MicroSD card.
Most phones do not have external storage any more. Samsung is not doing anything different than other manufacturers. This is 2022. Cloud storage is abundant. I have around 1.5TB of cloud storage available between Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.

aaronwt, 10 Feb 2022Why would I want to use a micro SD card? It will be to slow... moreIf you buy a cheap microSD card, then yes, it will be slow. But if you buy an actual decent microSD card with moden specs, you will find they can be just as fast as your phone's internal storage.
And anyways, microSD cards are generally used for photo, video, and document storage, where speed isn't a large factor. So even if fast microSD cards didn't exist - and they do - your argument would still be pointless.
You're just simping for a company removing features. Your defense is weak but it's the only way you can attempt to justify still defending this company, and potentially your ill-advised purchase of their device.
