The excessive price increase to go to a S series is simply too hard to justify unless you wanted a stylus and hence the need for S22 Ultra. If Samsung can't reduce their prices for next year's S23 Ultra, perhaps they could consider targeting the mid range market by introducing a stylus enabled A series? Perhaps an A53s with stylus to capture the mid range market vacated by LG Stylo and currently held by Motorola? Samsung would continue to lose market share to the likes of Motorola if they didn't do one of the 2 options - reducing S Ultra prices or introducing an As with stylus.

S22 Ultra is excessively priced and is underwhelming.
Samsung removed the following from its S and Note series phones over the last few years. 1. Health Sensor (so you would buy their Galaxy watch. As a GW3 user I can confirm that my Note 9 provides consistent accurate HR/SPO2 readings while GW3 is a hit and miss) 2. 3.5 mm jack (so you would buy their buds which I did but wired headsets is infinitely better for appreciating good music), 3. MicroSD card support, 4. MST support (which is still required by many retailers where I shop), 5. Iris scan (for a tradie working with heavy gloves finger print scan is unrealistic, iris scan works best). 6. LED notifications. 7. Dual physical sim support as opposed to 1 physical and 1 esim. (This applies to frequent travellers who use multiple physical sims and prefer their convenience for easy changeover). The S22 also has a front camera notch which is not ideal (though it can be hidden in settings but you lose some screen real estate in the process). Apart from the older OS there really is no real world compelling reason to upgrade to the latest S22 Ultra series. There really doesn’t appear to be any other vendor in the world who removes features and jacks up the prices. Remember Samsung no longer supply a power adaptor or earphones as part of the package. They have moved manufacturing to lower cost countries while jacking up prices.
My Note 9 is going strong like new and has at least 8 feature advantages over the S22 Ultra. Samsung is truly screwing the consumer by removing features and bumping up the price. Samsung is a great innovator and technology company but poorly led by its Sales and Marketing people. More to the point the S22 Ultra is underwhelming for the price charged and where I live the deals are not anywhere comparable to the USA where many of the commentators seem to be from.
5G is patchy where I live and work. At home with broadband I dont need 5G data. While roaming overseas, data for accessing cloud storage is too expensive hence the need for MicroSD slot. The Note 9 has just received its (possibly penultimate) software security update. Most people I know like to keep their phones for 4 years or more. When a 2018 Note 9 came with 8GB RAM, 512GB storage and SD card slot at less price than for todays S22 without similar RAM and storage that should cause consumers to query Samsung. Modern phones have 108 mega pixel cameras and 8k recording etc which will require close to 6-7GB storage for 10 minutes recording. To offer an S22 Ultra with just 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and no microSD slot seems a rip-off. A top end device should offer greater RAM and storage for the price being charged. More important they have to be future proofed as even Samsung now offer 5 years support to compete with Apple. Any which way you see it Samsung got it wrong on the S22 Ultra this year. They should have just 2 models – one with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage and the other at 16GB RAM and 1TB storage and at lower than the price gouging rip-off of this year’s S22. After all last year’s S21 Ultra came with 16GB RAM. When consumers don’t question Samsung’s behaviour, they will continue to rip-off consumers. After all a consumer led court case in Europe is what made Samsung extend support to 3 years, 4 years and now 5 years.
The S22 series is a premium product. Not to offer QuadHD across all the models when it was first available almost 10 years ago and on even the S6 is telling. Throttling CPU and fudging on benchmarks, reducing specs, increasing prices - in my mind this year Samsung got it terribly wrong and need to know consumers dont approve otherwise there will be no change in Samsung's behaviour.

This is a note device, A boxy design.

This should be released as Note 21 ultra.

Im so pissed, i really wanted the "Note" version.
But no more Sammy for me this year.
S22 serie is very unstable, not every phone, but many is.
Android 12 is not that stable to.
And Snapdragon and Exynos hmmm, we all know about this last couple years, problems to.

So i think i go for a Dimensity 8-9000 series chip this year 👌🏻

I bought an S22 ultra with SD in Argentina because of a carrier promotion. And it is a very good phone overall. It does worry me that it gets warm, I wonder why... OnePlus 10 with the same processor does not so much. Apple is still on another league in power, battery endurance and overall value.

Apple is and sill will be the best overall phone. ULTRA is very good though, its features are amazing: pen, 10x zoom, display, DeX, very good value there.

Just got my S22 Ultra 8 Gen 1 yesterday. The performance, software and screen is good. Though i thought the difference in performance was not as significant compared to Poco F3 i bought last month.
One concerning issue is, the heat. With just normal transfer of apps and data from my old phone making this phone going hot. I not talking about gaming etc. And this heating issue can be serious if no stable update from samsung. Im holding the phone and definitely hotter than body temperature (>36 degree Celsius). This is without any cover yet. I can imagine how hot it can be once i use phone cover. The heat will accumulated in the cover and destroy the phone. Samsung pls do something!

It's been a month since I placed order on Amazon India, and those bitc**s have not delivered yet. It's not in enough stock to meet the overwhelming demand. Better, to wait and by that time something new/better will hit the market.

I remember handling the S22 Ultra in the store. (No S-Pen, the slot was empty)

The heft and size of the S22 are REALLY impressive. I love how dense, smooth, and solid it feels, and it screams at you with its size.

The screen is great. Period. It's so good, as is all flagship displays tbh; It's so good that it made my P30 Pro and the P40 Pro sitting beside the S22 stand look incredibly BAD.

The issues, however, were abhorrent the instant I picked the phone up. It was warm. From what, looping a promotional video around? That really worries me, feeling how warm the phone is from doing almost nothing.

The cameras are NOT an improvement whatsoever from the previous generation. Also, their zoom lock is still horrible. I'm sorry, but that is pretty terrible for the second generation of flagship cameras from Samsung; even the P40 Pro's images look pretty decent side by side. The most humiliating thing is that the P40's 5x and 10x images look pretty much the same as the Samsung's. The only difference is past 20x, where Samsung gets better and better.

But in whole, the camera on the Samsung is a disappointment. Surprisingly, looks, weight, heft, and feel are what I like about it, which is strange considering how iPhones were so good at it. Somehow, Samsung's feels better now.
