The Grillfather, 21 Jan 2022You realize that Samsung already has a release event planne... moreNo, it's not the pre-orders that go live. It's pre-registration, it simply means you are reserving a slot to pre-order the device when it does go on sale. If you pre-register, you can get a 50 dollar credit.

They are... morethere wont be much difference between s22 and s21, similar to how it was with s20 and s21 years back. skip generations then you will feel the upgrade. in my case i jumped from S10 to S21, so it was quite the upgrade! Will get the s23 when it comes out next year. :)

Jack, 20 Jan 2022No micro sd slot. SHAME. !!!!!!!,and and 228 grs in weight... moreYou would think that it's a shame without it, but once you get used to it, you don't really need all that space with the microSD. iPhone users have been dealing with this since day 1 of iPhones and you don't hear them complaining. :)

ASBOST, 08 Jan 2022I tend to buy the latest Samsung phone each year and curren... moreyeah, skipping a year is better, plus you save having to spend on a new flagship every year, unless the come up with a new model far more than just what feels like an incremental upgrade. I'm not a fan of the stylus either, just a open port on the phone where dust and dirt will settle inside the phone. I hope the Note series comes back so we dont have to be muddled with a stylus on the S series.

ASBOST, 08 Jan 2022Funnily enough my S21 Ultra 512gb just died on me and no ma... moreTotally agree, if there was an option for the ultra model to have a microSD card for a bit more, i would go for that as well. Nothing like having removable memory in case of extreme failure of the phone, provided that it didn't fry the card along with it.

I just compared the camera specs to the S21 Ultra. They are almost identical except for the fact that the S22 Ultra has SMALLER pixels on both photo lenses. This is just comical...

Not only does it not bring anything new worth upgrading to but, AGAIN with the Exynos? I feel they actually look at their customers as being outrageously dumb or something. We've had enough of mediocre quality in photos, videos and day to day usage. It's an inferior device to the Snapdragon and it has been so for several years man. It's not the same device and it shouldn't have the same price tag. Big reviewers from youtube have said this also over and over again. Seriously. I refuse to buy any Exynos device regardless of how they want to package it.

I just don't see why they decided to go with this configuration for a phone. It isn't good in my opinion as there is not really any reason to upgrade from my current note 9. It doesn't DO anything that my previous phone can't. Dex is a great feature I use often, but my 9 can do it. I like having an SD card capable phone, but since I started self hosting my data I place less of a premium on it. But for the insane price they're asking and the thought of upgrading to a phone that doesn't have one just because irks me. Same for the headphone jack even though I own a set of bluetooth headphones, but I'd make concessions if the phone did more.
Samsung has always made gimmicky phones and still does. Christ look at their folding abominations they're so proud of. I can still remember my note 3 having commercials where you could scroll with your chin, and it would pause videos if you looked away. I used those features a couple times, realized they were half baked, and never touched them again. Samsung wisely removed them but they served their purpose in generating hype, something today's Samsung designers could learn a lesson in regarding their standard cell phones. Another half baked trent in newer Samsung phones is the under display fingerprint reader. Why can't we just have standard fingerprint readers like my note 9, or even the brand new Fold 3? In my opinion those need to go the way of chin scrolling. What wasn't half baked about my note 3, and subsequent note 4? The IR blaster that allowed me to control TV's, VCR's, and DVR's with a simple set up. That was not a feature I was thrilled about losing on my note 9, but DEX made up for it.
Another feature my note 4 and note 9 have is the pulse oximeter that integrates into the samsung health app. I use those for my heart rate frequently. Why would I pay 1300 USD for a base model of an Ultra phone for the privilege of then having to buy a bulky watch that I can't even wear in my work place, or have to charge and maintain separately, just to have something my old phone came with? Again, I think the watches are yet another Samsung gimmick, but they have their place for sure. Just not when they are an excuse to carve features out of phones.
My note 3 had issues with overheating, my note 4 did not, and luckly my note 9 runs great even when I'm using dex heavily. The SD 888 is a joke in terms of performance, efficiency, and most importantly: thermally. And from the initial reviews I've seen of the SD 8 abomination 1, things are worse. The motorola that shipped with the awful chipset sucked power and heated the phone past "uncomfortable" to "burns the user" in tests (I've never held or used the phone so I have to take their word). To add insult to injury, when the phone wasn't throttling, the performance improvements for sucking on average more power and creating extreme amounts of heat was a marginal improvement on performance over the 888. This phone will likely only be offered in the SD 8G1 variant in my region and it will have the same issues, and likely will have gimps to performance to make power draw and thermals manageable, but the issue still stands: how is that an improvement over a phone like the note 9/s9, or even the note 20/ s10/ 20 phones? If I can record 8k/ 4k 60fps footage, but have to do so in an air conditioned room and for a short duration before thermals impact my phone's performance, what's the point really? My note 9 will record 4k footage outside until either the battery dies, or it runs out of space as I'm sure most other contemporary phones from that time period, across multiple brands, would do also.
In my opinion Samsung is writing itself into a corner with releases like this and I am disappointed with the rumors thusfar.

I definitely will refuse to be a second hand customer, buying the same phone but with the Exinox processor!
It is unfair and definitely it is discriminatory especially because the phone will be sold under the same name! It is shameful!!!
