I had to sell mine due to financial issues and I'm on the a54 and you would never believe that the battery life is actually better on the a54 8/256 variant...
I really think that the differences are very few: hdr10+ content, however the screen is pretty much the same but the bezels,
Zoom on camera and the actual size, other than that, is the same phone for a not heavy user.

This is not a property of the optics, but a HW error of the lens, do you think we would complain about something that is a property of the optics? Funny Samsung has a serious problem that they are silent about, but most of us know about it..

Shadocx, 15 Nov 2023My question is, is this banana gate only on Samsung phones?... moreActually on many phones it is normal to have slightly blurred edges because of a shallow depth of field, so you can get as much light as possible. The phone will suffer from "banana gate" if the blurry patches are anywhere else, and it could be from misaligned lens.

Shadocx, 15 Nov 2023My question is, is this banana gate only on Samsung phones?... moreFor example, oneplus 11 does not have this problem, same Iphone 12
But it's easy, just take the printed A4 paper with the text and take a picture in portrait :) from edge to edge and you can immediately see if there is a problem or not. The sharpness of the photo should be noted. Bananagate mostly has a blurring of the circular Banana shape approximately in the middle of the upper part of the area.

I'm seeing similar thing on my Nothing Phone 2 but there are 0 news about it over the internet, and who knows which other phones are affected but nobody talks about it.

BlinG-BlinG, 14 Nov 2023Not so sure...the lens problem was already there in the S22... moreYes they are the same but the Software Optimization and the new AI system will Integrate and from that they would be able to fix many Camera issues of the past. So let's see how they show the World the new S24 Plus with same Camera hardware (They might play the Apple trick you never know).

BlinG-BlinG, 14 Nov 2023Not so sure...the lens problem was already there in the S22... moreAs long people don't take photos of documents :D But it seems that blurred shapes are also in photos from a distance. It's nice to see it on the GSM arena, where you can compare the quality of the photo. Watch bus ticket. S24 and S24+ will have exynos which is known for its heating and poor battery life compared to snapdragon. The S24/S24+ will be a downgrade from the S23/S23+

They probably already have tons of camera chips left from S22 and S23 and they won't put them in the trash bin, the cameras still being ok for most users.

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2023Nope. It's still there even with the Android 14 update... moreYes it depends on your usage...i make a lot of scans from invoices or A4 documents and i could never get a completely clear and focused picture, especially on the edges. Probably some S23+ are more affected than others. So i got rid of it and i'm back to my trusty S21 FE that can do the job better than this very expensive phone.

Slavo, 05 Nov 2023Bananagate(bananablur) main camera problem fixed nowadays ?Nope. It's still there even with the Android 14 update. But it's really a non-issue for me since I seldom take close up photos of documents or printed reading material. The waxy looking night mode photos which look like 'beauty mode' was applied to walls, surfaces and shadow areas actually bother me more. I can't unsee it but it seems Samsung's camera software engineers find it pleasant. I don't.
