If you only use your time to look for those phones instead of posting here about your argument. You clearly don't look properly, instead waiting to be spoonfed. The phone you have been asking for is already existing, and I should say ARE. The only non-existing version is with stereo jack and removable battery since manufacturers are now pushing for the standardized type-C and locked batteries.

Does that mean every other phone with the same size will fail too? By that (non) logic, there would never be a successful phone ever, because every size group had at least a few failed devices over time.

Let me try to help you. No one's asking for the S23 to be cheaper. They're asking for ANOTHER phone with a midrange chip to be the same SIZE as the S23. Get it?
That wasn't so complicated, was it?
And by the way, previous flagships aren't much cheaper, actually.

Look, we all want cheaper priced phones, but manufacturers produce different models at different price ranges. We are free to choose among them. Previous flagships are already cheaper now.

From what I can see with modern 'S' line Galaxies, based on price and specs, I am keeping my S8 for longer. At least it is a hand size, the curved screen apps are useful, has a proper functioning physical finger sensor, special slot for SD Card, and can share WIFI over hotspot without using Bluetooth (acc to Samsung support this no longer exists), and has 3.5 socket for earphones if I don't want to waste battery on bluetooth ear buds...

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2024Multiple comments below talk about wanting compact budget (... moreSpot on!
Here are two more examples of Samsung forcing decisions on consumers, instead of responding to what customers want:
4) The Note series being stopped. The howls of its many fans didn't faze Samsung.
5) The headphone 3.5mm jacks removal on higher-end phones. Samsung just decided that people don't want it, only lower-end customers do. Did they take global surveys to find out if that's the case? I seriously doubt it.
So once again, Samsung not making compact budget phones says nothing about whether many customers want them (which they do).
If anyone else has more examples, here's the place to add them.

I just wish the rest of us that can't cough up astronomical sums would also have access to a smaller and lighter phone like the S23 is. Many of us would love to become Samsung customers again, if only they would be willing to cater to us. (Don't worry, I'm not holding my breath.)

Okay so I had this phone for a week now. Really enjoying it and love the compact feel of it. Battery life is alright with ~6hr SOT.
Have used only budgets for the past six years so the premium experience is super nice (hopefully I don't get too spoiled though). Naked feel is nice but I do miss plastic.
Ultrasonic sensor is alright but hit or miss with screen protector so I just use face unlock (fast sometimes depending on lighting and how far my face is). I just wish it had a rear sensor though TBH

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2024No. #3 is so wrong. People don't want a small budget p... moreSo you claim there are compact budget phones from Samsung already in the market? Please specify the models, because none of us (aside from you apparently) know of any that were produced in the last three years already.
And contrary to what you think, many budget customers (notice they're called "budget" customers for a reason) are NOT looking for the top specs. Just a decent performing phone that's small and light (like the S23's dimensions). It's really not that hard to understand.

People don't want a small budget phone, they want new unit with top specs at small body and budget price. If only size and prices mattered, they won't be posting those here because there are budget small phones in the market.

Multiple comments below talk about wanting compact budget (S23 size), while other comments claim that it isn't produced because not enough people want it. As such, It's time to dispel the myth that phone manufacturers produce what consumers want and the premise that an item not in supply is proof that consumers don’t want it. This notion is utter fiction.
Let's use Samsung as an example:
1) Samsung knows that almost all of its customers prefer Snapdragon over Exynos. Yet, S-series phones in many regions use Exynos for years (S23 was an exception), as the S24 base and plus models will be in 2024. People buy it because they have NO CHOICE, but they clearly DON’T WANT it. The same goes for many Exynos A-series phones where an equivalent Snapdragon (or at least Dimensity) chip would be preferred, but isn't provided.
2) Multiple comments on this website claim that most consumers prioritize bigger batteries over smaller and lighter phones which would necessitate smaller batteries. Now, if that’s the case, why are Samsung’s M/F series phones with 6000mAh batteries not available in many regions to budget customers? If most people want it, you’d think Samsung would make them available. But in many countries, 5000mAh battery phones is the biggest there is.
3) Many customers who can’t afford a $800 phone prefer a smaller and lighter device with the dimensions of the S23/S22. The fact that they mostly end up buying bigger budget devices is because smaller ones DON’T EXIST. But if they did, that’s what they’d get.
So, does phone demand drive supply, as many claim?
No! Consumers just respond to whatever is available because they have no other choice!
I hope this myth has been put to rest once and for all.
