Anonymous, 07 Feb 2023Actually there are some significant upgrades and fixes.
... moreYou make great points for power users
And what could be the percentage of likely buyers who would be better off with these "upgrades"
I would say, these improvements would matter only the 10% of people at best who are potential buyers.

Why is it so thick? Like a brick. For 3rd generation becoming only bulkier and heavier. Especially with protective case. I cant divorce my Note 10+ because of the slimness and elegance of it.

Anonymous, 06 Feb 2023Nothing new Flatter display(big plus for me because it's easier to pick it up), better viewing angles, better variable refresh rate(I did notice that), better viewing angles compared to last year, more natural colors. New Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Main camera sensor is way bigger and has 2x bigger OIS. New CPU is beast at processing photos. Portrait mode is so good that I can't even describe. Night photos, videos improved a lot. Selfie camera has probably the most natural skin colors I have ever seen in Samsung phones.
Battery is insanely good. Even on second charge I've got 8:30 hours screen on time with 18hours standby. This phone is the first one I can use heavily while charging and not be afraid for battery. It's not to hot. Just a little bit warm even on heavier multitasking.
Everything is smooth, animations looks super good. New snapdragon CPU just rocks. Gaming performance is improved a lot. On exynos previous gen I was getting frame loses from time to time but with this new CPU I can't feel and see any slow downs.
Some things I forgot to mention but there is a lot of changes.

It's much faster than exynos variant and better than last gen snapdragon. Ofcourse on light usage you wouldn't notice but in a long run you can take advantage of that(by the way battery is better because of new cpu).
Selfie camera has downgraded pixels but it use "dualpixel" technology. In other words it depends a little more on new cpu. Few updates and that "downgraded" selfie camera could look much better than s22. At least for me skin colors already look much better and natural.
Much better processing, 2x bigger OIS. So practically speaking It's not the same because it does much better job. Check YouTube for camera reviews. It will improve even more in the future with software updates.
"Practically" is not 1:1. It looks on paper the same but it isn't. It has better viewing angles, better auto brightness, more natural colors.
And why do you need more than 45Watt? S23U has amazing battery. 30minutes of charge and there is plenty of juice for you.

Xedius, 06 Feb 2023That's because the chip 8 Gen 1 and Exynos were made b... moreAll I'll say is: I have an Exynos S22U and it's far from a "crappy experience"... it's incredibly fast and the battery life is amazing (again, look at the test results on GSM... 17 hours web browsing and 18 hours video playback is pretty great). The Exynos models seemed to improve a lot with the S22 series.
It will be interesting to see how the battery life on this new Snapdragon model compares when it is reviewed - but I don't think it will be a huge improvement over the S22U.

I wish everyone who intend to "upgrade" to S23 Ultra knew GSM Arena and compare it to S22 Ultra and see what they are getting for the upgrade.
- marginally fractional processing power
- Downgraded selfie cam
- Except 200 MP vs 108MP main shooter all the other sensors are exactly the same.
- Practically the same display
- Sam lousy 45 Watt "fast" charger.
If I was a Samsung fanboy I would just stick with S22 lineup. Even the design is inseparable with a case on.
I got lucky by lending Xiaomi 12s Ultra. So I'm good until Xiaomi 15s Ultra.
