And do you know what adds significant protection against data loss? It's MicroSD.

A MicroSD card can be ejected from a bootlooping phone and read from a computer or a different MicroSD-supporting phone. Work can continue nearly immediately.

Kris17, 13 Apr 2023Thank you. At least you are willing to hear the other side.... moreGood luck using your phone with USB-OTG attached all day. It's uncomfortable, not ergonomic, and you can not even charge simultaneously.

A MicroSD card is contained inside the phone, like a battery.

For the same reason, a large battery is necessary even though power banks exist.

I keep coming back to this thread, because like you, I have strong opinions. 512 GB is a lot of space. I used to have the 512 S22U as well. During its lifecycle, I hardly every reached 50% of storage capacity.

One thing I've been forgetting. This phone has USB 3.2 OTG feature as well. You can plug it directly into the port, and I believe it will beat the transfer speeds of any SD card. If you need immediate extra storage. Hope that tickles your pickle. This phone has so many features, I forget to use half of them.

I don't see how whether a phone supports SD card and performance are even remotely related to each other. It's not like you 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 to put an SD card in there. Care to explain yourself?

That sounds like a very uncommon (and possibly subjective) issue. Have you done research to see if others have the same experience?

                * SD card
                * Fixed resolution (something between Qhd and full hd plus like iphone and Huawei doing no need Qhd or full hd plus phones)
                * No vartual buttons only gestures navagtion enough.
                * Ultra sonic fingerprint scanner or proper 3D face ID only one lock enough.
                * No blaotwaer added by Oems.
                * An option to uninstall unwanted apps even if it's Google apps.
                * single sim no dualsim from my experience dualsim cause throttling issue on phones even first iphone xs max when it comes with dualsim it does overheating.

Then Android phones performs really well even with 8 gig of ram.

And how many people own/manage a business? Of course there are reasons for needing 2 sim card slots, however, and I argue, this is a niche category of users. As more phones move onto e-SIMs, there will be even less of a need for physical SIM cards, ultimately driving this argument futile.

Well, you are definitely right about that. If this debate is useless, then why do you keep on replying back to this thread?

With regards to your last statement, I do agree. Internal storage options such as 512GB are very normal on flagship phones these days, and considering UFS 4.0 speeds are as fast as PCIe 3.0 NVMe drives, it is a big win over using SD card as storage expansion. So perhaps the need for SD cards has waned out for flagships, but the versatility of having "plug-and-play" media still stands. It's a nice bonus regardless.

NeonHD, 13 Apr 2023What can you do with a 2nd SIM card??? Call people with two... morePeople who separates their business number and personal number, needs 2 sim card slots. Those who commented below have given valid reasons, being it degrades user experience. There is clear a difference between listening to logic and being close minded. Regardless of opinions, I doubt it will return in flagships, like PC optical drives. So this debate is quite useless.

On the subject about the system, the 23U does takehefty 50GB of internal storage, mostly for apps required to run the system, and RAM+ that eats about 8GB. But having the 512GB version, I still have 85% of room to spare with all apps installed.

HT, 12 Apr 2023Useless? This guy learnt the the contrary the hard way: htt... moreWell MicroSD card are indeed useless, I had one and it's not good for long term storage because the quality of the image and video files will eventually degrade overtime with the amount of overwriting. It's the same with USB flash drive. If you want to preserve high quality images or videos, then safe option would be storing files on cloud storage, sign up to photo sharing platform like Flickr or buy a Solid-state drive for your computer. One last note, MicroSD will be decommissioned by the 2030s, SanDisk will be the first to do it, then others will follow.

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2023It's ancient. Waste of space. Sim card > SD card. What can you do with a 2nd SIM card??? Call people with two phone numbers???

You're goddamn ridiculous mate. Just stop making more silly arguments, save yourself from embarrassment.

As for all the other users in this thread who are so keen on decrying SD cards, come up with one good valid argument why phones should stop supporting SD card expansion. I listen to logic, not nonsense, and so far I've only been seeing nonsense.

HT, 13 Apr 2023If your phone is stuck in a boot loop or bricked by an upda... moreFlawed logic. Developers would never release an update that will brick their users phone knowingly. Modern day Android implements secure bootloaders, and protects the kernel from tampering, thus, bricking a device is much harder to do. Scenarios such as these are extremely unlikely. Unless you are talking about Android 10 years ago, in an age where users are free to flash custom ROMs. We don't do this anymore as it a huge security risk.

This would also explain your dated mindset and why you would defend a dated technology such as the SD card. They were useful in the past, still are in some applications, but I urge you to move with the times.

Flagships exist for enhanced user experience. I'd rather just plug-in usb, transfer files ASAP, and get on with life, rather than fiddle around with gimmicky cards. The S23U fulfills this purpose. It is a great phone.
