I don't know whether these poor reviews/comments of Exynos have faulty phones or if mine (S22U) is the exception - but it's super-fast, buttery smooth and never heats up... no issues at all. Battery life is really good too... obviously not as good as the S23U, but still pretty great. And I really don't feel the need to upgrade to the S23U for bascally 20% better battery...

I didn't regret after switching from S22 Ultra (exynos) to S23 Ultra, better battery life 20-30% , no heating, no lag at all, always fluid experience.. more reliable in any scenario

I can't deny that the Qualcom 8 ge 2 is a good chipset too.
But the Exynos is as well.

Better battery life, performance and less heating is all because of that chip alone. Camera is a bit better as well but main reason is the chip. Rest of the phone is as it was last year. They can't ride on chipset alone for another year so they have to bring something new to the table next time."
It isn't, the last year the S22 broked the pre-order records, this year wasn't for the mising Exynos variant.
Last year Qualcomm variant was worse.
and most people got the S22 SD.
That's why they are switching to the S23.
        Latest Exynos generations were excellent.

Mimama, 31 Mar 2023Considering between this S23Ultra and ZTE Nubia Z50 Ultra. ... moreIt looks promising via the reviews as apparently, it has a better wide angle sensor but not the main one, and the selfie is dog shit. Battery is apparently very good, though I don't know how it stacks against this behemoth. As for OS and system performance, I'm pretty sure it's up there as I've used Chinese software before and they are very well optimised. Once again, it's a shame its China exclusive, that's another competitor missing out on European customers, can't say I blame them as people of the west are ignorant and sheeps.

Considering between this S23Ultra and ZTE Nubia Z50 Ultra. Heard the ZTE camera specs are insane as well, but only available in China ROM (although no language issue to me).

                Thoughts?

AnonD-1078988, 29 Mar 2023Only reason this year their s23 series are selling at all i... moreThey don't need to fix what's not broken, so essentially they can rehash the same thing every year if they want. However, what needed to be changed desperately and finally has been, is TSMC taking over the supplying of the qualcomm chips which is why Gen 2 is a monster of a processer this year. Hence a massive boost to the battery life, and an extremely optimised software experience. Not to mention the upgraded camera system, not much more you can improve on from there apart from switching sensors.

That's why the S24 is gonna be a big upgrade in terms of camera department next year, as they are talking about using a new telephoto sensor to compete with the chinese competitors. I guess the design is gonna be the hard one to solve, as they seem to be sticking to the note style body for now.

I have multiple phones between 2 to 10+ year phones where the storages still works fine.

About SD cards I lost 4 in the last 3 years.
All branded (SanDisk, Kingston, Samsung and a other especially for high quality photography) and not quite cheap but still they just went corrupt and don't work at all anymore.

I understand what you're saying but unfortunately in reality it's quite different.

                          ---

About the S23 Ultra being a small update is also depending on region.
If it came with another exynos I would have doubts.

But also think about the people who did not have the S21/S22 Ultra, there are many including myself.
I came from an Oppo Find X2 Pro and it's a big step ahead in all departments so I am happy with the S23 Ultra and hope it will serve me 3 yrs atleast.

It's very hard to be a Samsung hater nowadays. They are already the best in overall by light years ahead. Not the best in every single aspect (it is in many though) but in overall it just crushes out any other brand since it has no real cons. 10/10 beast!

SD cards can be written/wiped their entire capacity worth of data upto 10k times before wearing out. That's 10k days i.e. nearly 30 years if you do one write/wipe once every day. Your phone will fail after 4-5 years, so technically your phone's storage will fail 6 times before your sd card will. I'm using one I got with a nokia and since then, nokia went from a giant to bust and then started selling phones again and going bust again, and their sd card is still with me.
