Why did Samsung downgrade the 10x zoom of the s23 ultra on this s24u? Why is Samsung the only feature in which you excelled?

Why samsung can nlt make the display indistructible to fall damaged?they are intentionally not doing it becajse they want to sell that samaung care+ to you which is an easy money for them just like apple. They should be sued for this one. If huawei can make kunlun they can do it also for thier units but intentionally making only more scratch resistant glass instead of unbreakable one!.

Anonymous, 18 Apr 2024Hi everybody. Currently using A52. I know that buying a pho... moreIf you are outside US I highly recommend s23 lineup instead of s24. All s23 uses snapdragon cpu and s24 and s24+ uses exynos on international models. Exynos huge waste of money.

Camera sensors are the same. Both are snappy. Both will receive updates for long.

Hi everybody. Currently using A52. I know that buying a phone from S24 series will be a huge upgrade. Just can't decide which one to buy. I think S24 will be too small after my A52 and it has low ram low storage low battery life. S24 Ultra may be too huge and difficult to hold as its too boxy and heavy. Thinking to buy S24 Plus as it is somewhat smaller but has big battery lots of ram and storage. I think s pen or better camera aren't big deals. What are your thoughts guys? Please give me good advice.

my s24u camera lens has started to make strange noises like a bee buzzing and the image sometimes shakes when filming, and it also doesn't reproduce some colors well. I don't know what to do, the quality is getting worse, updates don't help. Maybe the next update will help? But somehow, until then, I'm losing my joy with this device and I'm starting to think about returning it. High price but too low quality

Lordaeon, 16 Apr 2024Hello guys, need a bit of suggestion here. Which one is bet... moreGrab S23U in the great battery (and hopefully condition too)

Lordaeon, 16 Apr 2024Hello guys, need a bit of suggestion here. Which one is bet... moreHmmm... it's a tough one! I guess it comes down to 1. how long you're going to keep the phone for (if it's less than 2-3 years, you may as well go with the S23U) and 2. do you NEED 1TB - or will 512GB be enough?

If you can make do with 512GB, then I'd go for the S24U... if you're spending this much on a phone, you may as well get the newer (sexier 😏) model, with longer support.

Hello guys, need a bit of suggestion here. Which one is better: S23U 1TB or S24U 512GB?

I've found some sweet deals in my hometown, where both S23U and S24U have essentially the same price. S23U is cheaper but like only $15 less and both are secondhand phones. The S24U opened but only used for 1 month, and S23U battery health is still 100% because the owner rarely touch the phone (I personally checked it).

I often played games and took videos a lot, so 1TB memory is great. But S24U have the latest Snapdragon and have 7 years of update.

Is it worth it or should I choose S23U instead?

SteveUk, 11 Apr 2024"I've installed all the latest updates, even with... moreI did try both the natural and vivid modes on the S24U and both still looked washed out compared to the S22U. With matching eye comfort shield settings on both phones, the S24U had a much yellower tint. Turning off eye comfort shield entirely on the S24U actually brought the colours closer to the S22U with it on but then it wasn't reducing the blue light. However it does it, the S22U just seems to strike a perfect balance for me of having pleasant, vivid colours but with blue light filtered out appropriately for the time of day. I guess these things really do come down to personal preference.

Kinda hard to explain but for me it makes the S24U screen look like it has a weird combo of high quality characteristics (resolution, refresh rate etc.) but with the overall look/tone of an LCD you'd find on a cheaper device. I've seen a couple of other comments that say the exact same thing - it doesn't just seem to be less vivid colours but a worse look overall. Could also describe it as having the look of emulated HDR.

And yes, I was aware of the flat screen! I was hoping I would actually like it, or at the very least not be bothered by a difference either way. But in practice, it feels less comfortable to hold (makes the phone feel boxier) and makes the phone look far less like a premium device. The gold frame on mine does look great but when the screen turns on it just looks cheaper with those bezels.Again, personal preference I suppose!

Anonymous, 10 Apr 2024I don't know why people complain about the dispay. Sam... moreConsidering there seem to be a lot of people complaining about the same things - graininess and washed out colours, I would think that *some* of the S24 Ultra screens must be performing worse in this regard.

However one explanation I can think of is perhaps all the screens are about the same but only some people are noticing it either because they are literally just switching from a different point of reference that has a screen that is either objectively better to them or actually does perform better in ways they appreciate more. Or they notice it because of the way they use i.e. myself preferring low brightness and dark mode where the graininess seems to be worse.

Maybe some people don't notice the graininess because it's not something their eyes actively zone in on. You mentioned bleed on the curved screen, just had a look at my S22U and the screen edges are indeed a little brighter than the rest of the screen. I've not paid any attention to it before and it doesn't seem to be something that sticks in my mind. The graininess and colours of the S24U however are something I notice every time. So just goes to show that people respond differently to various screen characteristics.

There is a tiny bit of grain even on the S22U if I really look closely in a dark room but it's so subtle that I can't notice it unless specifically looking for it. On the S24U it's noticeable regardless. So that is the other explanation - that some S24U units have screens that perform worse. Whether they are within Samsung's spec but worse or a genuine faulty batch of screens I don't know - will be interesting to see what Samsung say as I am going to raise it with them.

My network's tech support weren't helpful in the end, all they did was run Samsung's own diagnostic on the phone and when that came up clear they said there's no point sending it to their repair centre if there's no actual fault and it's just a case of disappointing quality. So they just told me to go and contact Samsung. But the advisor that ran the diagnostic on my S24U could even admit seeing the graininess on the screen. She did say they had no customers return any to their store though so again that may point to my unit being worse than the general standard.

I did show the S24U and S22U to a friend to check that I wasn't being overly critical and picking up on something that a normal user wouldn't be able to see, and he noticed the difference straight away. He also compared it to his own iPhone (15 Pro Max I believe) and we could see that the iPhone screen looked a lot more pleasing compared to the S24U, but similar to the S22U.

With regard to the curved screen...definitely a personal preference. I like the way it looks and it feels a lot more comfortable to hold in my hand too. Ideally Samsung would make both a flat and curved variant available to customers, or perhaps alternate each year as you're not getting that much of an upgrade for just one generation so I'm sure many people would be happy to wait 2 years to upgrade to their preferred screen.
