Anonymous, 02 Apr 2024Even with the grainy washed-out screen? The "graininess" is only on some (faulty) models... I've actually tried looking for graininess on my S24U (under different lighting/conditions etc) and couldn't find ANY at all.

The washed-out colour was only on the vivid mode - and that's been fixed in the update.

Honestly, mate... the display is fantastic - and coupled with the anti-reflective screen, it's probably the on the market.

if i could have any phone in the world, this is what i would pick. not just because of the insane specs, but also because of the design. samsung has been making some really beautiful phones since like 2015. the basically bezel-less screen is just so nice with the sharp corners, and the resolution is higher than my 2000$ laptop.

Why is this "opinion section" a warzone? Chinese brands aren't all crappy and the Samsung galaxy S24 Ultra is a good phone in literally every possible aspect.
Mayby you like curved screens? But thats literally all there is to jab at, And soms Chinese brands are also really good like OnePlus and Xiaomi for example
        Ex:Poco X6 pro , OnePlus 12R, Redmi note 13 pro+, OnePlus 12 ,Xiaomi 14 ultra and OnePlus Nord CE3

[deleted post]The point is, the S24U comes out top - OR VERY NEAR THE TOP - in almost every review there is... online, YouTube, magazines etc. They aren't all paid for by Samsung... you know this. So your opinion that it is "sh***y" or "garbage" is both laughable - and factually untrue.

Actually, show me a respected website/online review that gives the S24U something like 2 stars (out of 5) or less - or a really poor review. I'll wait..

Anonymous, 18 Mar 20247 years of usage? Of course it can be. S8/S8+ is now 7 year... moreI still use S8 as my daily phone and yeah its fine, I do notice things are a bit slower than my S21 Ultra but its not enough to make me want to copy my information over. For example, opening the gallery takes about a second on the S8 where on the S21 Ultra its imstant, though after its open they both feel pretty similar. After 7 years though you'd probably want to have the battery replaced, as I did with my S8, batteries don't last 7 years.. Luckily they are pretty cheap and easy to replace. You may also consider debloating the phone after a few years of the things you don't need or use, which can be done with ADB on a computer. Careful not to mess with any knox stuff though. I don't feel like upgrading any time soon, especially with the lack of headphone jack and SD card slot on most newer phones, and after making the bixby button open the flashlight

dimoten, 20 Mar 2024I don't understand people looking for nice pictures wi... moreWhilst better pictures can be achieved by DSLR or mirrorless cameras, those cameras are a lot heavier and more work to carry around all the time, not to mention a lot more expensive than a phone. For someone who is just doing photography as a hobby and doesn't want to deal with the extra hassle of carrying around a large camera with large lenses and have to deal with poor battery life on the camera, etc. It really is a great option. I actually have a Canon EOS camera but bought an S21 Ultra as a much more portable alternative. You also can edit photos on a phone and upload them to websites, which is not possible on most cameras.

[deleted post]You can disable the animations in developer options if they bother you, though in my testing of this phone I didn't experience this. My testing is limited to an hour or two though. When you refer to graininess are you talking about dithering in above 8 bit colour spaces? In 8 bit colour which most things use it looks fine, but smudging vaseline all over the display should help with any obscure dithering artifacts that may or may not be visible.

As far as playing games, it seems to have the performance to play every Android game, even older computer games through WINE, but if you don't like these games you also could use GeForce NOW or Steam RemotePlay to play any computer game. You also could get a controller app to connect withyour computer then open the camera and point it at your computer screen whilst pressing the controller buttons on the phone, though gaming quality will be based on your computer specs

Camera is pretty good but the quality of the 3x telephoto is a bit lacking, and zooming in to 10x and above is inferior to previous Samsung Ultra models. The 200mp one is good though. I'd say Oppo Find X7 Ultra or Xiaomi 14 Ultra would probably be better if you really need good camera quality above all else.

Lets hope the Samsung will change their Mind in their AI to have subscription in 2025, or atleast maintain the today AI feature Free on device and some upcoming basic as other phone already their AI thing too.
