I had my S5 since May 2014. Not planing to get a new one any time soon, still running strong. Battery was changed about 6 months ago, it's not great, but there is a usb plug everywhere this days.
Could anyone tell us what is the best version of Android for the S5? I run Lollipop (5.0)

I have been using my S5 since October 2014 and it still works fine. Do S5 users recommend updating it from Kitkat to Lollipop? Is the Marshmallow update available already in the Philippines?

devil, 13 Feb 2018s5 battery suck.... charge leg really suck I change x4 time... moreYou've changed the battery 4 times? Do you mean purchased replacements? Well... I can be 99.9& sure they are NOT genuine batteries, only Samsung credited partners get genuine parts, like where I work for example. S5 and Note 4's have always had funny batteries, more noticeable in the Note 4 where below 40% the handset just turns off. Buy genuine or don't both at all. Its also very dangerous using fake batteries, lithium is nasty stuff.

Or wait until Google releases an update for it, I guess. Hope this helps.

Eugen12, 26 Feb 2018Try to update your S5 too..ive experienced that before and ... moreCould be, but then it would maybe be more expensive to repair than to buy another one. I have all the latest updates, but the first time I noticed it was when the winter came and I just came home with a cold phone. Before that, it would only flicker at really low brightness that I wasn't even using. For example, if it warms up the problem is not so big, so I assume it has something to do with the weather. Maybe I'm wrong, but we'll see when the winter goes away.

A lot of people report the same problem, I've seen conversations about it, and tried some advice, but nothing worked. So I'm just using higher brightness during the day and EyeFilter for the evening (similar to Flux, Screen Filter, Red Moon, Blue Light Filter, etc).

I've taken my entire family of 4 phones to S5s since I left Sprint and went to T-Mobile.
I chose these because the S6, (which was the phone at the time) had a permanent battery that couldn't be changed, and a wrap around screen that couldn't be protected. My wife's S5 is on it's third battery and they only cost 7 bucks factory at Amazon. She uses it for everything. Mine is still on it's first battery because I don't.
They are great phones and the only "improvement" with the new phones is in the camera sections that the S5 already had. And a wrap around screen that nothing can protect.
I have 4 of these running since the S6, all referbs, and we've only broken one. I keep two extras. The last one I bought was 123 bucks and preinstalled with Marshmallow. Nice.

Bought it end of April last year, still no problems. It was 2 years old but with a new battery. Only the screen flickers at very low brightness when it's cold, but I can live with that. Apart from that, it's as good as new. More than 130 apps inside, no problem. I just clean it sometimes and don't use heavy apps or battery-heating games, but I do use it a lot. I can't believe it's already 10 months.
