Samsung investigated Oreo (8.0) for the S6, but it never got approved and pushed out. So the S6 remains on Nougat.

Saying that. There was an update for the S6 family (and the Note 5) back in November, which GSM Arena never reported (c'mon fellas...). But it wasn't a 'security' update per se - there was no change-log, but the community at XDA Forums suspects it is to keep the S6 functional with the expiring certificate issue on 7.0 (which would have knocked these phones off the internet early next year).

so i just got an s6 for about $30, the only issue was the small part near the front camera were bubble on the top right corner, the colors underneath is actually fading (some part of it became transparent) i could actually gently press it seems like adhesive was moving. is there any way i could fix the issue without replacing the whole lcd assembly? i mean only the screen/touch?

This s6 and Note 5 were the most reliable and smooth Samsung phones (before s8 series and up) that Samsung ever made.
Exynos processor was much better than Qualcomm those day and that shows
in smooth performance of the phone even after 3 years in use and over 70 apps installed!

Miss that unique design as well with a home button.
Nowadays all phones look like clones of each other.

I know at one point Android 8.0 was promised but was it ever released? I think these phones are still on 7.1

SGS6 , 04 Dec 2020Remove the rear cover of the device and the frame till you ... moreI have tried the second option but it did not work, the phone just begins charging.

I have not yet opened the phone to get to the battery section.

This is a known issue on S6 phones wherein after many years of use the power button gets freezes. In this case most of the phones can be turned on as per ur option 2 method. However a few phones for some reason does not turn on with option 2.

Will take it soon to the repair centre to get it fixed.

                                Thank you..

In the location where your power button was, there should be 3 gold pins on the main board. Bridge the two lower ones and your device should start. Sometimes I use anything metallic and touch it across the two pins and sometimes I just let my finger touch them simultaneously, the power in them is almost 0.

If this doesn't work then your device likely has some board damage. Try combinations of the different pins if it doesn't work for you, I don't know if there are differences in the models.

                                    or

Turn ON the Galaxy S6 without using the power button:

When the Galaxy S6 is turned off, press and hold the volume button for a few seconds.
While holding the volume button, connect the Galaxy S6 Edge+ to a computer using a USB cable.
Wait for your phone to boot to Download mode.
Then press down on the volume rocker to cancel the operation.
After the operation has canceled, the Galaxy will reboot and turn on.
You have successfully turned on the Galaxy S6 without using the power button.
                                    Hope this info helps you.
