Mark bowker, 22 Jul 2015I bought the phone two days ago and dropped it at work. I w... moreOf course, it goes without saying that you will have difficulty getting used to an entirely new interface. That's like going from Windows to Mac, or from an automatic transmission to a manual; if you have only experienced one and go to the other, you will experience a bit of headache.

Also, go ahead and mention a SINGLE cell phone manufacturer that covers screen damage as a free replacement under warranty. There is none. Only now is HTC offering 'uh oh protection', and goodness knows they'll find a way to screw someone over with that as well.

Glass is glass, and glass will break if hit the right way, Gorilla Glass or not. Get a tempered screen protector. But don't try to use your uninformed opinion to try to dissuade people from getting a device that's actually a pretty capable device. I've watched drop test after drop test online featuring this device and it has survived falls that other phones definitely would not have survived.

If you don't want to spend $700 on a device that could break, then don't get a smartphone, because they're ALL like this. LG, Samsung, Apple, SONY, all the major designers of smartphones do NOT offer any recourse for a cracked screen. Also, you can find the parts online and replace it yourself if you are capable, for way less than the manufacturer would perform it for.

The thing about smartphones is, even though they are advertised as resilient, they are still devices made of plastic and glass, and are still capable of being broken. Just because it is advertised as shock-resistant and water resistant, does NOT imply that it is impervious, and you should do a little more research and use some common sense before deciding that something is a piece of junk. I'm sure you can find a NOKIA 3310 online, those things are indestructible.

Are you Serious?, 15 Aug 2015Really?I do believe what he tells.

Forget all the "proof" thingy, it is not fully "proof", and don't try anything that challenge the "proof" limit of the phone.
If he like the phone, then just treat it as a normal phone that need to be take care in normal usage, and don't try to accidentally dropping it, every smartphone will break no matter how they claim can survive the drop test, glass is still a glass.

And for the Android UI, if he don't like it, then just forget this phone.
Nothing wrong with the UI actually, it is just a matter of personal preference and customization, more on the way of using it, rather than being said as an issue.

AnonD-411443, 23 Jul 2015I totally understand your frustration. There is nothing mor... moreI agree on the interface part where Android interface is totally different from iPhone IOS. It take time to learn if we switching from one to another (not just Touch Wiz matter, it is very different among brand, even those claimed powered by the same Android OS version). People will get used to it after the learning curve, but it certainly

But on the phone damage, I do not agree it is totally user fault.
I would call it the false advertisement or false information that make people believe this phone is much more "proof" than others.
Take for screen crack, the phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, and is MIL-STD-810G certified - salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant. So, this means we can be more careless, and the phone should survive all the drop, shocks, but end up it doesn't. So now we bought a phone that has all the "proof" certified, but end up is user fault if user break it? But the advertisement do promote those feature that the phone can survive. There is also no detail measure on how much force the phone can take before causing the phone break. (I know those thing are impossible to be answer by Samsung as it will break their reputation. All they can do is continue to blame user and continue to say their phone is very durable)

Then the water proof thing that has been debate for years on warranty and user fault, so letting the water go inside the phone is user fault again? or continue blaming user not use it properly where flap are not closed properly, phone back cover is not closed properly, or used it in salt water that break the phone? Or blame user dunk the phone for too long, over 30 minute?

I would say, if neither the phone can survive, then stop promoting those non-sense advantages. Now, we end up getting something that is far from what it intend to be, and they come out all sort of excuse blaming user careless if the thing is broken.

This is just like the iPhone 6/6+ bendgate cases that continue blaming on user mishandling on it, rather than blaming the phone built durability. So iPhone is a piece of device that need extra caring on using it, and if it is bended, it is user fault again? Also, what is the point of telling the complain are just very less? Problem is still a problem, and it won't solve by shifting the topic around.

DON'T BE FOOLED - my S6 Active suffered a 3-foot drop onto pavement and shattered, inoperable. Dead. data lost, $250 in cost to replace (this is using ATTs so-called protection)..... now I like the phone, but the process of transitioning to a new handset is horrible (kudos to Apple here) and the delicate nature of the phone now requires me to put it in a case, and given that it is larger because it is 'active' now I have a very large device to carry around. SHAME ON SAMSUNG!!!!
