Mark bowker, 22 Jul 2015I bought the phone two days ago and dropped it at work. I w... moreI totally understand your frustration. There is nothing more frustrating than having phone issues within days after purchasing a new device. Especially after spending several hundreds of dollars and committing yourself to a contract. That sucks your screen cracked.. Very unfortunate but you have to understand that water, dust, heat and shock proof does not mean the glass screen is shatter proof. Glass is glass.... That is why it is very important to buy a tempered glass screen protector.... Especially if you work in an extreme environment. I know this is not what you want to hear but the reality is, you need to take some responsibility for what happened to your phone. The rugged outside of the phone is meant to protect the delicate internals. I'm sure... Minus the cracked screen.... Your phone works just fine. Just because the phone is an active variant doesn't mean it's beyond getting damaged in any way. The screen is glass and its exposed. There is no way to fully protect it. There are some things the user has to be responsible for. When I bought mine... I was excited to not need a case any more but I knew I had better buy tempered glass screen protector to help reinforce and protect the display. Displays are fragile and as you found out... If you hit it just right, it doesn't matter how far it falls from... 2ft or 20ft.... If it hits just right, it's gonna break. That's not the phones fault..... It's not the users fault.... It just is what it is.... Although it is the users responsibility to aid in preventing the display from cracking due to a freak accident.... Now as far as your problems with the interface.... Once again.. It sounds like a user issue.... Not a phone issue. It sounds like you are new to android and haven't quite figured it out yet. With android... Your options are damn near limitless.... If you dont like Samsung's interface, download a different home launcher much like almost every android user does. Especially with touchwiz. Obviously... If you are coming from years with an iPhone there is going to be a slight learning curve but it's nothing you won't get used to. Who knows... You may end up loving your S6 active... I suggest you fix the display, get a tempored glass screen protector, do your home work in regards to android and download a different home launcher..... Give it another chance. I understand your frustration... I get it... I really do... But nothing that has happened in regards to what you posted.... Is the phones or Samsung's fault... I am not a fan of any one particular device or manufacturer... I just love smartphone technology... And I can honestly say... After owning almost every top end device known to man over the last few years(including multiple iphones).. The S6 active is one of the best devices I have used..

I bought the phone two days ago and dropped it at work. I was promised this would be the perfect rugged phone for working in a wet environment and could handle my needs. It fell out of my shirt pocket while bending over and a quarter of the screen broke from this 1 or 2 foot fall.
To answer another posters question- no this is not under warranty. This "active" phone which cost 700 dollars will cost 200 dollars under att warranty or 250 to repair by Samsung. I will never ever again buy any of their products or let any friends or family. Shockproof means absolutely nothing I have seen many other phones take much more damage and the manufacturers will actually stand by their product.
The actual interface is horrendous, if you are used to an iPhone expect at least a week of fiddling with settings to get the device anywhere near usable. I am only 2 days in and there is not enough room here for me to list the multitude of headaches I've had. I took it back to att the next day and it took 2 employees 25 minutes to show.me how to remap keys, set up my contacts correctly, and other basic things.
All in all this is a terrible and expenaive phone and I implore anyone considering it to stop.

AnonD-411443, 29 Jun 2015Man,,,Finally, I read a response from someone that mentions... moreWhile the memory leak is undesirable, it isn't a hardware issue. It is a firmware and kernel issue that can be and will be fixed at the 5.1 update.
Regardless, I am loving the S6 Active and haven't seen much lag (at all). The camera and waterproofing set it way above any other device I would consider.
I was a bit skeptical with only 3GB Ram but during the initial setup, the phone ripped through installations and still let me play without much lag. On my Note 3, it would have been frustrating.
I think you are expecting too great of improvements from one year to the next. There will always be room for improvement and this device rocks!

AnonD-411443, 29 Jun 2015Man,,,Finally, I read a response from someone that mentions... moreWhy do you talk like Galaxy S6 and it's variants are the only phones with memory leak issues? Currently all the phones that run Android Lollipop have the same issue. Not just S6 and it's variants.

do0zer, 23 Jun 2015I really wanted to love this phone, the screen is beautiful... moreMan,,,Finally, I read a response from someone that mentions the disappointing memory leak catastrophe that plagues the S6 and its variants. Yes, this phone has amazing pieces. Great build quality, great camera, great display and now with the active it offers protection from the elements as well as the inevitable human accident prone person. However, great pieces does not make a great phone and they certainly don't equate to a great user experience which for me is the most important element of a phone. The pieces of this phone are not put together in a way that renders each piece a compliment to the other. The pieces are just there and whenever you put something together with no real thought going into how all its pieces are going to work together then something is gonna get missed or messed up.In this case it's the memory management issue of the s6 and its variants. It makes efficiently multi tasking virtually impossible and extremely frustrating. Samsung has quietly acknowledged the problem and has promised a fix with a future patch update which it has yet to deliver. Primarily because there is no way to fix it post production. This means that all the people who purchased this phone the first few weeks it was available to order are most likely stuck with what they have. Others, that purchased the phone recently, the second wave of buyers, most likely have devices that will not give birth to the same issue due to the fact the problem was remedied during production. They probably have no idea the problem was ever a problem and think that people like us that are mentioning it are just maliciously bashing Samsung. No....its not malicious..... They earned this bashing. I waited for my s6 for months. I was at the door of my local AT&T store the morning of its release to purchase mine. 14 days and a warranty exchange later it was returned for a refund. I now have an LG G4 which happens to be the best phone I've ever owned. I guess everything happens for a reason. With projected sales numbers upwards of 50 million units, I'm sure good ol Sammy can stand to loose a customer.....or 2.

This phone features is just insane. But it's annoying that Sammy won't make it available to markets in Africa.
