My s7 still has the october security updates while a5 got november security updates . That's how samsung treated their flagship phones.

Just received Oreo Update on my S7 with November Android Security Patch! Installed just now and the UI changed to Samsung Experience. Very fast and fluid, usual Oreo features. No bugs so far! Great. Thank you Samsung.

MIUI is a good skin and better in some terms compared to touchwiz but the cameras on xiaomi device are not that great and if compared to S7 they're nothing... Considering that you're not getting the official warranty with the MI note 2, I would say that if you trust the distributor, only then think about the MI note 2 or else galaxy S7 is good...
