I have it! I got it on Thursday the 20th, just a day before the official launch

it is a great phone, lots of things i like and a few I don`t. It is really thin, and the apparently larger screen of 6.2 inches is just BS - they made it noticeable narrower and taller, so in the end the screen AREA is less than 3% larger than the area of my old Galaxy Note 5 (with 5.7-inch screen), and smaller than my Huawei Mate 9 (5.9" screen). The Note 5 had the home/back buttons outside the screen, so in the end the Note 5 from 2015 has a larger screen area. And now the Note 5 has android 7.0 as well.
The face recognition not always works, probably 50% of the times it doesn´t. The fingerprint sensor sucks where it is, I have not tried the iris recognition. Beautiful screen, but I never liked those curves on the borders which reflect light from both sides when you are walking in the street with sunlight. Battery is great so far, and the camera not really better than the one on the Galaxy S7 Edge, which I had and sold months ago (I couldn´t stand those curves with a smaller, 5.5" screen). Those curves on the glass only diminish the usability of the screen, i don´t see any purpose for them other than making it look nicer.
The card inside works but the phone seems to be slow reading from the card, and the video constantly pauses, very annoying. I had this problem with other Samsung phones, never with the Huawei and other chinese phones I had in the past. I guess I will need a faster card? not sure that will solve the problem

AnonD-663548, 21 Apr 2017Sales tax is state dependent. Some states, such as Delaware... moreYou are mentioning the state where there is less population. If we talk about Texas there is a sales tax of 13%, New York 12% and New Jersey 10%. These are the 3 most populated states in USA. So, there are 52 states in USA and if we talk about an average there is 8.75% sales tax in complete USA. Still cheaper in India. You are just like a people who doesn't want to buy the flageship phone. Just want everything within the range of 15000-20000. If you can't afford it who told you to buy it. Just go with the Vivo or Oppo. Samsung company is not for you.

I have had my black S8+ (Exynos) for a day now. It cost AU$1349 from Samsung Australia and included a free gear. I still have the 256GB sd card, charger and headphones from the GN7 that Samsung didnt want.

I currently have the GN4 and have had the GN7 and Mi Mix since then. I have my wifes S7 which I am using to compare a few things.

APPEARANCE & FEEL: The S8 is simply the best looking phone on the market imho. Build quality is awesome. While it is narrower and taller I am still not a fan of glass backs which are slippery, fragile and finger print magnets. The volume rocker buttons are a touch high and a couple of times I have hit bixby instead. The finger print reader isnt in the right spot or easy to find. The Mi Mix was a lot better. The fingerprint scanner does work well though once you get used to finding it. The S8+ doesnt feel as slippery as the GN7 for some reason but it certainly isnt a GN4 grip.

I wasnt sure about the on screen buttons. They actually work really well once you use them a bit. It would be nice to be able to re-map the bixby button though.

SCREEN: The screen is simply superb. I thought the GN4 was good but this is a big step up in colour and whiteness. Compared to the S7 the S8+ screen is better in sunlight, a lot brighter and has a lot better viewing angles. I have used apple, xiaomi and sony recently and the screens dont even come close to this.

Web browsing, movies etc are all really nice on this screen but gaming is simply amazing. The experience is really immersive and could only be beaten by stepping up to a small tablet.

SOUND: The single loud speaker is ok. Volume is louder than the GN4 and quality is ok. Two speakers would be nice but Im not the type of person to pump out music of games through small loud speakers when you have headphones.
The headphones that came with the S8+ are AKG. The look and feel great and perform really well.

The phone comes with an amplified speaker dock. It was ok but I dont really see the point.

BATTERY: Battery charging speed is fine but nothing amazing (hopefully this extends battery life. With everything running and on wifi from 0% it got to 40% in 30 minutes, 80% in 60 minutes & 100% in 80 minutes.

Battery life seems really good. I tested with 50% screen brightness, a mix of web browsing, app installs, video, camera and games. The S8+ was using 0% battery and is showing 65 minutes screen on time after 1 hour. At that rate i would get nearly 11 hours screen on time with heavy use.

I ran a movie at 50% brightness and loud speaker sound for 2 hours with everything still on in the background. It was using less than 6% per hour which would give over 17 hours of video. This is a touch more than GSMarenas video playback rating. I havent tested web browsing.

SOFTWARE: Again there have been a lot of improvements in the OS since the GN4 and minor improvements over the S7. Everything is really smooth and looks great. Samsung still has some things I wish I could get rid of but it isnt too bad.
The split screen features are great and better than anything else I have used

PERFORMANCE: I havent had much chance to test phone or network performance beside the S7. Obviously the benchmarks indicate it is right up there and it feels that way.

CAMERA: The only reason I upgraded from the GN4 was the camera. Doing so before the GSMarena review came out was a small risk. The S8 camera is about the same as the S7 in daylight or a touch better. Indoors and low light it is a big step up on the S7.
The new zoom function on the shutter button is really handy.
I havent compared the video quality but it looks great.

GSMa makes a big thing about shooting 9MP 16:9. In truth this only cuts off a thin strip of pixels along the top and bottom. The image quality is exactly the same as the 12MP 4:3 photos.

      OTHER
      - I had some accidental edge presses on the GN7. That is completely gone and no apps seem to have issues with the curved edges.
      - If you drop your phones you will want a case. I wont be getting one as the glass wont scratch and I dont plan on dropping it (touch wood).
      - I set up and used the free Gear VR and new controller. It was surprisingly good and will be great when good games come out. It is pretty hard on the eyes so I wouldnt be using it for any more than an hour or so.
      - There was no sign of the red tint on my unit. Samsung says it is a software issue. There is an option under screen settings to reduce the red output to change the white balance if you need.

      ON THE DOWNSIDE:
      - The fingerprint scanner location is ok but not brilliant.
      - The phone shows fingerprints and is slippery.
      - black bars when watching videos but on the S8s have black fronts so this isnt really noticeable.
      - Im not sure of the purpose of bixby at this stage. It would be nice to be able to remap the button.
      - I think Samsung should have included a dual camera provided it didnt affect quality. It does feel like an apple move in that they are saving it for the GN8.
      - The email app still doesnt have a simple way to mark emails as spam (that I could find anyway. The email app is ok but could certainly be improved.

OVERALL I am really impressed with the design, OS and performance of the S8+. If you want a large phone with the best screen, best camera, best performance and great battery life, this is it.

DNeighbor, 22 Apr 2017I know how good the camera is from my wife's S7 Edge. Just ... moreI'll have a look at the Note 8 but an S Pen isn't enough reason to upgrade.
The S8 camera is about the same as the S7 in daylight or a touch better.
Indoors and low light it is a big step up on the S7.

Would have liked dual cameras but that alone probably won't be enough for me to upgrade to the GN8.

AnonD-77443, 19 Apr 2017Still don't have it yet. The S8+ camera looks amazing in... moreI know how good the camera is from my wife's S7 Edge. Just superb shots every time.

Looking at the battery stamina of the S8+, they are at par with the GN4, and is over 33% better than my current GN3. My logical self is telling me it's have even significant use with an extended 10,000 mAh Zerolemon battery like I use with my Note 3 without having to charge all day with heavy use. No nonsense about charging a standard sealed battery before going home.

As my experience with the GN7 (which I returned after 45 days), I really have to carry around a powerbank even with over 5 hours of screen on time. I loved the manners performance!

I've stopped myself from getting the free subsidized unit for now, because I know the Note8 would totally be lots better.

AnonD-77443, 21 Apr 2017Currently testing the battery usage. 50% screen brightness ... moreI'm SO happy to hear that! I'm picking up the S8+ in a couple of weeks and battery usage has been my main concern. I've had an S6 edge for about 10 months and the battery really struggles. I get maybe 4, 5 hours absolute max of moderate/heavy use, so to hear that the battery on the S8+ is doing SO much better is really relieving!!
