I had the feeling back then (Z1), that the pictures are just crispier, livelier. Now, I do not have the expression. These pictures seem simply dull. And they're quite often blurry.

NewNuts, 27 Jan 2018does this phone have any heating(over heat/hot) issue? thnxNot experienced any over heating issues with this phone and been using it since launch. I have played many games and never once have I thought the phone was over heating.

After doing a lot homework on Google, I finally got the Samsung galaxy s8 plus. Using for a week,I found that the S8+ isn’t good as I thought . But if the Samsung makes their phones with ratio 18:9 are the best..

scorpio, 24 Jan 2018I'm surprised that you can even use your phone at that temp.Yup. My s8plus works fine in -20C . But just to quickly Check notifications or transit schedule not text. I leave transit app as last app opened and unlock with iris. And if need be: Ok google voice commands to text. Yay tech solutions for cold weather ;D

Although I have managed to drop the phone already 4x even from 1,5m onto bathroom tiles. Only a minor, 1mm scratch appeared on the top edge and I use no protection on the phone.
Camera tends to screw around, like cannot focus, have to knock on the backside to "unstuck" it then it works again. Picture quality is good.
Bixby button can be remapped, just download an app for it and you are done.
Computing power, well a Skype video call, texting through WhatsApp, and updating existing apps in the background all simultaneously can influence performance. When you click fast enough the buttons in such case the phone is not really able to follow up. During Skype calls anyway the phone heats up massively.
Text typing. The Biggest fail ever. Swipe senses everything, so if you touch the edges while swiping then you'll get words you didn't want to write. Predictive text sucks amazingly big time. I keep writing fast and there come mistakes like "sort if" "amount if" "it dies not" and such stupidities. You cannot delete the wrongly typed words from a list but only if you observe them again popping up accidentally in the predictive text line. Certain words you cannot even delete like "wo nt". Very very frustrating and disappointing.
So I would not buy this phone again, and my next phone will not be a Samsung.

Even my S7 edge camera is far better than Sony's crippled camera. I've used the XZ in the past and it's camera is nowhere near to Samsung when it comes to low light photography.

Hi, as an S8+ user what I can tell, is that it just not worth it. I start with the pros as they require little explanation.
Pros
- Big. Snappy.
- Good quality. Nice.
- Excellent specs (memory, speed, network, etc - except the camera).
Cons
1)
The whole ergonomics cries for dropping / breaking the glass. Even if you buy the Samsung rubber back case and the Samsung protective film (both at a premium) there are still uncovered / unprotected and easily breakable parts: the rounded edges. The whole thing is hard to keep in hand, it just slips out - and it is even worse with the brand back case (it is more slippery). Is this thing designed with the principle to generate more repair revenue?
2)
This whole "edge" concept is just crap: nowhere to grab the phone without unintentionally selecting, clicking, sending anything. Or which is worse, when entering text, the end of the line in a field gets to the "edge" part of the screen - where you cannot navigate the cursor. So this serves only just for frustration.
3)
The fingerprint sensor on the back is also Darwin prized. When you try to use with one hand, you risk dropping, because you need to adjust how you hold the "edges". It is practically useless, if you often use your phone in car - you put it in the holder, and you can forget, that there is a sensor. (The face recognition also sucks, if you have your phone on the dashboard).
4)
Bixby. Sucks. Why is this? For what reason? For whom? For what use? With a real world dedicated button? Double-sucks. Adding colour: if you get used to wake your phone by pressing the power button, than you instantly press also the Bixby button, as it is just opposite to the power button. And you cannot disable it! Triple sucks. Nice!
5)
All the shitty Samsung tools which are designed to keep you in the Samsung ecosystem. I tried to use them, honestly. Made repeated attempts to get used to these. But, sorry, no. They landed in the crap folder - as you cannot remove them. A vanilla Android would be much better - and also cheaper, wouldn't it?
6)
Mediocre camera. The photos taken with this phone are just not that good. Even a Sony Z1 Compact produced better pictures, back then.
Summary: If you do not use your phone for extreme gaming / bitcoin mining - you probably do not need this computing power. If your user profile is browsing, music listening, youtube, mails - then go for a (much) cheaper china phone. Way better deal.
Definitely would not buy again - and won't buy S9.
