AnonD-752012, 17 Apr 2018W both use the same privider here in my country. I am from ... moreWell if you are both using the same model of S8 and are both using the same provider and you also both have S8's intended for the Barbados retail market (that region) then it looks as if it is an issue with your phone.

Perhaps someone with far greater knowledge than I have could help you out further but that is the only conclusion that I can come to.

* I say region as each phone will have a CSC code that is specific for a particular region E.g My S8 Plus has a CSC code 'XEU' which is an unlocked version for UK and Ireland. And the reason that I mention it is that it might explain why you and your friend have not received the update at the same time as you may have two different phones that were originally intended for two different regions.

Here you can find a list of those codes

https://www.androidsage.com/2017/07/12/list-of-samsung-galaxy-country-specific-product-code-csc-and-country-region/

You can find the csc code in a number of ways, I found easiest way was to go into 'settings' then under 'about phone' then 'software information' you will see 'service provider SW ver.

Mine for example reads SAOMC-SMG955F OXM_XEU etc etc

As you can see mine is XEU.

Sorry don't know if I'm making any sense :D

moan moan moan about the phone .............. and then total silence about the case. In fact sometimes people praise the case I.E "Robost Rubber Case" then it falls from "Sitting Height" and WOW the case took "Most" of the impact ........ from "SITTING HEIGHT"...

          Always amazes me.

amj, 17 Apr 2018can we move apps and games etc. to its memory card in dual ... moreYes.

Normal way as the regular model

'Settings' > 'Apps' then click on the app you would like to transfer to the microSD card. Then click 'Storage' and the 'Change'

Please note not all games etc can be transferred but this is normal and would happen regardless of what phone you had.

AnonD-752012, 16 Apr 2018No i do not. Thats what i was telling u i dont have it but ... moreIt could be your phone also.

If all else fails and you are convinced that you should have the update now and all evidence points to that (i.e checked with service provider etc) then I would consider factory reset, if no luck then I'd be off to a service centre.

AnonD-752012, 16 Apr 2018No i do not. Thats what i was telling u i dont have it but ... moreIt could be your service provider! Have you checked? Could be many factors E.g Is your friend using the same Provider as you? Are you or your friend using a phone that was intended for the region that you are using it now?

It's not black and white, so don't panic! That's what I'm saying.

I am using the 3 Network (Service Provider) in the UK and did not get the update at the same time as O2 or Vodaphone Customers living in the UK for example. Furthermore I did not get the update at the same time as people living and using their phones in a different region/country e.g Germany (They got it before the UK release) the update was released region by region. China have only just started to receive Oreo in last day or so....... US carriers have only until very recently passed the update on to their Customers.

I was aware of how fragile the S8 is, so from day one I've had a robust rubber case for it. I bought it in November 2017 and yesterday, April 2018, I dropped it (from sitting height in the bathroom on the tile floor. It landed on a corner, in other words the rubber case took most of the impact, and on the bathroom carpet). Still I got a tiny crack in the display. A half hour later there were two more smaller cracks and waking up this morning I discovered the crack had grown till a top-to-bottom crack. So no matter if you try to protect it, you will most likely have a phone with a cracked display for part of the phones life. So find a better, less fragile phone to buy, and I'm not talking about the S9!

You don't have to be Einstein to work out that this phone could suffer damage if dropped onto a hard surface. This can be said for most if not all the latest flagships.

What other phone with the equivalent specs including the IP68 rating could you drop 'very frequently' and not expect any damage? How much to repair each of their screens in comparison?

Did you buy and use a case?

Samsung s8 is the most sensitive phone i have ever bought. This message is for them whose mobile phones fall very frequently. Its screen display and back glass is the most sensitive of all the phones i have ever used(from iphones to nokias to htcs). If you can spend 14K again and again on screen repair then you can go for s8 otherwise please save yourself from this frustrating expenditure.
                                  Thanks

AnonD-494930, 15 Apr 2018S8 or iPhone 6s? Anyone? This is a simple question : GALAXY S8. Buying the iphone 6 instead of the S8 is pretty stupid since they came out almost 2 years apart so of course after 2 years phones improve allot. To put it bluntly the S8 has better internet 3G/4G speeds, is water resistant, has way better screen both in quality and size, better processor, more ram, DOUBLE the battery size etc.
