This phone when it was revealed, i thought that Samsung couldn't get better than this, this was peak Samsung, idk why they cant reuse this design in the A14, looks so timeless to me, even the specs would beat any budget phone today. (this looks way better than a14 in everyway, the notch in a14 looks ugly compared to this) the nostalgia hits hard in this and wish it got andriod 11 and Samsung update policy wasn't bad back then. you can see the hearts start to decrease because people didn't care anymore after this and the iPhone X.

Thus is the exynos version right?.

very good ultra fast phone speaking of a 6 year old phone. faster than my ( budget ) galaxy A53, but its battery drains instantly and barely lasts 30 minutes when ( playing fortnite at medium settings ).
I am now using with it android 12 ( costum rom ) I recommend U do the same but watch videos online first.
note that costum rom only works on exynos

I need a new phone because of screen cracks, but hate to give this one up. Bought in fall 2017 and has worked great. Battery still lasts more that 24 hours - I'm not a heavy user - no gaming. I just use it for email, text, photos and music. GPS does draw the battery down a bit when I have to use it. Any suggestions for a replacement would be appreciated.

I'm using this phone since I lost my Pixel 7 Pro, and a friend borrowed me this one until I buy my next device. I'm really surprised with it's performance. I removed all the bloatware, use the web version of IG as most "demanding" service, unable the GPS (location) and only activating it when needed, and desactivating push email notifications, which I do always, the battery life last me the whole day, with the saving mode active. I mean, It's old as fuck, and my friend bought it also 2nd hand a few years ago. After 2 weeks with it, I hold on my hands my friends iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I was really shock since it feld a real brick, and I am a told person with big hands. I really loved having such a small device on my hands, I do not perceive anything on my pocket, it is just great. Obviously, not a long term thing, but after this experience, I am reconsidering why would I buy such a big phones again. Only if Zenphone 9 had better cameras...

I still use this Samsung S8 on 2023 which i bought it for $43 second-hand, it only has small cracks and a little bit of burn innit, but it works perfectly as i expected. Despite the fact that old phones tend to drain because of it’s years of usage, it’s still pretty good for normal use.

Buying old second-hand flagship phones are literally better than buying a tall, midrange phone with a same price as second-hand that doesn’t even run smoothly, or it can even fit on your pocket ;-; LOL

I use an iPhone 8, S8 & S7 on 2023 (becoz im a POOR filipinian) and they are good at everything (Powerbanks needed), Powerbanks cost $5 here as underrated brand, so it’s quite handy for oldie phones.

I decided to install LineageOS android 13along with bitGAPPS. Yeah I managed to install TWRP before doing so. At first I had issues because the usb port wasnt working correctly, but I figured out I can use a sd card so I went ahead and transfered those files to it and then I brought the SDcard onto the S8. It worked like a charm, and now I have lineageOS with android 13 and google play store preinstalled, and I installed some of the google apps right ahead. Fingerprint still works and device downloading works like a charm. Still its pretty annoying to quit the face and iris scanners but I would get over it. And even I don't have google play certificate there, I still have my main S20 FE 5G to use whenever I wish to.

Why to use custom rom. It’s risky enough, I prefer being outdated rather than risking my device. It’s still good device for it’s time, with only its weakness the battery. but it’s surprising it’s about the same as the iPhone 13 and the galaxy note 10 lite, and ever stronger than the z flip 3’s one
As s20 fe 5g user who uses the s8 as spare phone

I've been using my old and trustworthy S8, with both front and back glasses cracked and the battery life at about 70%, while I save up some money after my POCO X3 died. I'm really glad it still "works".

Anonymous, 11 May 2023Can the Samsung Galaxy s8 be upgraded to android 11 or 12The latest version I have is android 9 with april 2021 security patch. Probably it's possible with custom ROMs.

To avoid conductance (shorting it out), cut a pointy plastic sliver (wedge) off a plastic hotel room key or old credit card, and get in there and scratch the bottom of the charging port until you get all the lint, grease, dust, dirt, insects, and small animals out of it. When you're done, the bottom will be clean and shiny and your charging port will work again. Did mine, the cord 'snaps' in again and doesn't fall out, and it works like new. Took about 15 fussy minutes, made a hell of a mess..

Have this phone since the end of 2017/early 2018. Battery never replaced, a bit of burn in, never cracked the screen. A big pity that the charging port barely works anymore but it has wireless charging. No idea when basic apps won't work on android 9 anymore.

                                      Old but gold.
Using this phone for a good 4 years now without any problems and 2 years with cracked screen.
