POWER USER MAN, 06 Dec 2018It came down to Samsung S9 and Huawei P20 Pro for me. I opt... moreThe edge screen is for immerse viewing. It looks cool for watching videos and swiping is a great experience but everyone has personal preferences on it. The p20 pro is overrated for its camera. Samsung is much more secure and offer everything in a flagship such as SD card. Headphone jack arguably better after sales support and brand reputation (in Europe at least).

Dropped it two three times by accident and survived np, at home on floor tiles from 1.30m height. Both times pulled from pocket and my headphones cord got stuck lol

It came down to Samsung S9 and Huawei P20 Pro for me. I opted for the S9. One week later I kind of regret my decision. Here's why:
1) The biggie for me is the S9 design. The rounded-edge screen is good for nothing but causing unwanted inputs because it's hard to hold the device without accidentally pressing something. It also feels like chances of dropping the device are high because you're always trying to minimize contact with the edges. I don't like it at all and I don't understand why Samsung bothers with this.
That alone is enough to make me regret my choice. But it's hard to ignore that a similarly priced P20 Pro would have offered 128GB storage to the S9's 64GB, and of course the better camera on the P20 Pro.
That said, the S9 performs very well. I just wish that real-world usability was a bigger priority in design as compared to flashy but ultimately pointless features like the edge screen.

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a galaxy s10 next year. I have never used a Samsung phone before. I was about to buy iPhone XS max last month but after knowing about the S10 I thought of trying it out.
So my question to all the Samsung users is that how much is the longevity of Samsung smartphones? When do the issues like battery degradation, laggy performance etc start to occur? and when does the phone totally feels outdated? with iPhones I know if I get the latest one now, I won't have to worry for at least 3 yrs. What about Samsung?
I do not want to change the phone for at least 2.5 to 3 years. Should I go for S10?
Thanks

This is mine atm, just browsing net and some fb, usually I get roughly 1hr or 50min this way from 100 to 90%. now I have ~10-15% brightness.

If I game a little it goes faster but still within limits, I use balanced in game launcher for most games. Dont play much just causall games mostly.

And dont use auto brightness, unless you keep lowering it so it learns your new algorithm. At max brightness all the time it will drain no matter what.
I personally keep it manual and usually 20-30% if at home, same outside until I cant read then raise it more.
And if at home use wifi more, mobile data in general will drain faster, unless you live close to mobile tower and have good signal.

Lyn812, 04 Dec 2018How many hours is your screen on time? Mine just 4 hours plus.. And what do you do, and what stuff enabled (mobile data 24/7)?
The worst i got was ~5hrs, but some app was draining it.. weak signal.
Otherwise always 6-7hrs np.. more like 7hrs on avg.
If you keep it idle close background apps and use that buildin cleaner more often. Also tweak battery save to your liking and use that more.
I have battery save 80% of the time, fhd option, read somewhere it interpolates 1440p resolution - fakes it.. so now i just keep it the way it came pre-enabled, data save in background can be handy too, doesnt refresh as often, but then it has a slight delay.. can be handy on mobile data though so it doesnt drain as much.
Aod is configured on time, I have it set from 10am until 6pm.
And check battery usage more often to see If some app goes rouge, by me there was Google play services one time.. had some trouble fixing it but I did in the end.. was some conflict with personal ads and one game.
Also when ever new monthly update/patch arrives flush internal cache. Volume up + Bixby +power button and delete cache, just cache nothing else, reboot and it will settle after a few days.

As an open-minded iPhone user, I think this phone is highly underrated. I have only once seen one of them outside a store. Since the price dropped so much, I think it makes much more sense to buy this over the OnePlus 6(T) and many other phones. It may not have some sort of flashy sliding or notch or color gradient back, but it is really solid overall, and by not picking up every stupid trend like the sliding, it is a rather sensible option for most people.
