I need a phone that I can invest with in terms of camera, battery life and general performance. If investing on those things is a priority would u guys go for the former flagship S8 or the mid-range A8 2018 instead?

@gino If you can wait, I suggest waiting until the S10s hit the market and decide then. I expect the S9 would drop quite a bit. Also by that time Android Pie would have rolled out so you can check out how well it works on the S8 and S9.

But thinking that the S9 is now on its half-life there are really tempting deals out there and prices are slowly going down.

Galaxy S series phones traditionally get 2 major Android updates and came with the chipset to make those updates count. I think a Galaxy S8 will serve you well for at least another 2 years.

Always buy Samsung flagship devices (newer or older) rather than the midrange ones which are cheaper but don't serve the purpose and you'll always be happy and content. Have a fantastic day.

Gino76ph, 14 Oct 2018So do you think the S9 is a good investment right now? Or w... moreIMO if you have the budget, Samsung flagships are almost always the better deal than midrange phones up to one year later. Because the “midrange” are by no means cheap and cut quite a few corners. If you can wait, the Galaxy S10 family is coming soon, so you can expect a significant price drop of the S9. I concur with the assessment on battery life without fast charging, but I’m hoping it could be even better after 9.0 release.

2. Read no.1, super quality sound.
Same in headphones mode, but I use my own eq setting and with Dolby at music mode. Also using oldschool buds instead of these new ones.
3. Alittle but switching to pro mode (auto) fixes that.. should be a new update out soon to fix it, just like for note9.
4. No, and battery is ok once you disable fast charge option. Longer stamina at least 15-20% longer usage, acts as if 3500mah then. No perf lags either- it has a extra option to reset the phone once a week.
I have a exynos ds version, ost on avg 6-8hrs.
