This tablet is great in everything, but it has 2 big flaws:
1. Back/home/tab buttons are on the case. When you hold the tab vertically everything is fine. But if you are using it horizontally, then tough luck, because these buttons move to the right side. Which means you cant hold the tab with ur right hand alone, and the buttons constantly get in the way constantly - i keep pressing them accidentlly, and its annoying.
2. 10:9 aspect ratio sucks. Youtube and movies usually have 16:9 or 16:10, so 9.8inches becomes ~6in for videos.

Anonymous, 16 Sep 2017I perfectly understand and support your view about this tab... moreLately I discovered that the 2 pin charger of this tab is so huge that it doesn't go in to the usual 2 pin socket with pocket (generally found in the wall). I am not talking about the 2 pins but the white body which contains the 2 pins. The body itself is bigger than the normal pocket of sockets. So, if you are in airport, hotel or somewhere where the female 2 pin plug is inside the pocket you can not charge with its original charger (or you need a multi-plug). Why the hell Samsung introduces such inconvenient acessories? It is not necessary to be bigger in size for fast charger, because many other previous fast chargers are in usual/normal size and handy. I was suffered when I traveled as I could not charge it and also my Spen nib/tip was broken because it did not have any pen cover (and I did not carry spare with me). Now, every time I travel I should ensure usual size 2 pin charger and Spen nibs spares with me. This is really not practical and convenient SAMSUNG! :(

Mido, 26 Oct 2017 Thank you for your reply , do you advise to buy this Tab... moreI neglected to mention there are 2 important reasons why NOT to root your device. One is that it voids the warranty (not an issue if you are beyond the warranty period, though) and the other is, if it is rooted, you are more vulnerable to successful attacks that may gain root privileges on your device because whatever you launch as the user, who is actually root, runs with such privileges. With the worst wireless vulnerability on the horizon that has made every wireless device vulnerable till patched, this is definitely something to concern yourself with. Just take the steps as I have advised and you won't need to root your device.
As for what you ask about my opinion on purchasing the S3 or not, what I can tell, there are definite advantages to the S3. I got the S2 at Amazon for an amazing price that still to this date isn't offered anywhere, not even on Amazon anymore (price was a limited time offer). The S3 has improved on some significant things over the S2: battery life is longer, RAM is 33% larger, and the sound system looks on paper to be amazing. My S2 display is really impressive, so the S3 will not disappoint.
As far as performance, I have a 32GB S2 with only 3GB and it sings. I have added countless apps to it, too, including Norton Antivirus (not an endorsement, but do get some sort of malware protection to protect your investment of both time and money). I have no performance issues at all after only basic performance tuning (just removed or froze bloatware and some stock apps). The only thing I regret is putting a 64GB sd card in it instead of a 128GB or more. I know I just have to copy it over to a new SD card, but now I have to buy an SD card reader/writer.
Just be careful with whatever case you get. My S2 case's USB flap put far too much pressure on the charging cable. Only 6 months into using the case, I started to have charging problems, but thought the cable had the problem. I kept switching cables and each failed quickly one after the other until I realized it might be the USB port. I cut the flap off to relieve the pressure, but it was too late. The port stopped taking a charge 3 months later. I know it wasn't the battery because I would jimmy the way the cable sat in the port and was still able to get a charge till it completely failed. Word of warning: Samsung refused to honor my warranty because the serial number of the device was not on any sales receipt. Make sure you get your device signed up with Samsung along with it's serial number immediately after purchase.
Needless to say, when I get my device back, I will be ordering a different case. From what I can tell, many have that flap problem. Cutting it off is key, but realize that if you needed it to be dust proof or, if the case does this, water resistant, it won't be if you cut that off. For me, that's a small price to pay after the damage it received. I also dropped it far more than I ever imagined. Just dumb luck I guess. I'm won't be using the current case I have for it anymore and will be ordering an Otterbox case for it next. I been through all the Amazon reviews and this seems to be the only one worthy of its protection claims. It's pricey, but the repairs are much more expensive if your device is ever damaged in a fall. My favorite case is the ballistic case, but Go Ballistic doesn't manufacture cases anymore.
After what I read up on the S3, if I can find it for a really good price, I would get it and give the S2 to my mother and father (I support all their computing needs and they need a new tablet). I only say "for a really good price", because I would need incentive to buy another tablet over the S2. In other words, I do think the S3 is definitely worth it!
Good luck with your decision!

Traveller, 24 Oct 2017Samsung designed a very good tablet but decided to leave ou... moreYou have yet to learn how to performance tune for Samsung Galaxy devices. I have yet to root a single device I have gotten my hands on and I have stripped out bloatware and disabled many stock apps.
This isn't done with any stock apps, either. I have an unrooted Samsung Galaxy S5 phone that I still have room to optimize and I am now streaming Netflix, Youtube, Sling TV to my TV set using Google Comcast (the "Home" app). Yes, I actually successfully do this from my S5 right now because my Tab S2 is in for repairs to the USB port.
Think of the following for performance tuning apps to look for (I won't endorse any single app, you need to find what you like):
1. Get apps that can disable/remove any and all apps you have no use for. There are 4 ways to do this and I employ all 4. One you mentioned, find an app that moves apps to the sd card. The others are:
- Find an app other than play store that allows you to remove apps. Such an app will list some of the bloatware. It is trial and error in the long run to really determine what to turn off. Cross one bridge at a time as to not brick your device (this advise applies throughout).
- Find app that can "freeze" other apps.
- Find app that "disables" "packages" (that's your hint on what to search for in the play store, but know that "package" means the same as "app" here).
2. Get an app that limits what can be started at boot time (very important).
3. Cache cleaners are a must, but also consider routinely cleaning cache automatically by some set time interval. I only recently decided to try to schedule cache cleaning and I didn't realize how useful it could be. Find such an app and make sure that you can "ignore" cleaning some apps' caches (hint: they are typically the ones that you want at boot time, too)
4. Find an app that tells you what apps are running. The Galaxy Tab S2 comes with a nice "Smart Manager" app. It has the ability to kill apps that shouldn't be running in the background (no ignore list, though). I actually have an app that cleans caches, manages what apps starts at boot AND allows me to kill apps or "force stop" them. As a bonus, it allows me to set which apps to ignore when killing (a.k.a., stop from running) the apps. You can also see what apps are running without adding a new app. Just turn on debug on the device (google how to do this) and in the debug category under settings, there is an option to view the currently running apps.
I'm sure I can find a better way to say this all succinctly, but I don't have the time to polish this atm. I must stress though, be very careful with what you do here. Some things can literally brick you device if you aren't careful as to what you shutoff or clean cache on. If you aren't sure if an app can be disabled, search for it's function. My favorite package disabler app actually has an option from within the app to search for the function of the "app in question." It's definitely nice to not have to leave the app just to search the net for a description of what it does.
Happy performance tuning!!

Slow and many programs cannot move to sd card. Excel will also not open directly from the sd card. Very disappointing and intentional move by samsung. I wish google will make another tanlet

From the first look at this Samsung tab s3 I was delighted! I could not believe how beautiful it looked! Very smooth feel and round edges. I was happy that it didn't look too rounded as this would of thrown me off.
The glass back is a bit worrying as I'd not want to drop it at all!! As this would leave it badly damaged and this would be very upsetting!! As I like to keep my electronics free from scratches and any marks.
But I'm sure Samsung will make the next one all alloy " and that would be nice.
Anyhow, this is a very responsive tablet, and if had this thing running hard and it did not bring a tear of sweat. It's android operating system runs very smooth with no lagging that I had. This is one thing I've witnessed a difference since having the tab S' back 2 years ago that lagged abit from time to time and got me stressed, but not with this, as i assumed is due to the 4 gig if ram!! No lagging" thank you Samsung!! About time!! 😁
4k videos play seamlessly and bright vivid picture, due to that amazing spec and AMOLED screen.
Also Plays games with no glitches fast and with no screen tearing!, i can not find a fault anywhere! Pure Beauty all around. And those 4 stereo speakers sound amazing, so clear. And when you enable surround stereo WOW!! Movies and games sound brilliant.
The pen that cones with it makes a lot of things easier when texting or just using the web, it wakes thing a lot easier if you have big fingers and finding hard to write. Theirs many many features to find out what you can do with the pen, and I'm sure I'll find them all, it's like looking through the looking glass with this tablet, theirs so many things it can do ' to make peoples electronic life easier. Great idea with the stylus.
The camera is great also, very clear and videos with fantastic quality looks very bright clear shots, the front facing camera is great for selfies seems clear enough for me, and theirs a great feature to swop from front to back camera, with just a swipe down on the screen, and that's it, brilliant. I'm not much of a camera Expert so I can't really say that much more about it.
I did look at other tablets before making my choice, and to be honest I'm a Android man, I love android device's, but I had a look at the iPad pro tablet, and to be honest" it wasn't a spec on beauty to the Samsung tab s3, It just felt the one for me.
The black Samsung tab s3 is the first choice in buying a tablet that gets everything done in one place. And is definitely my first choice. You cannot go wrong. Iv fell in love with my tablet, and I'm sure I'll never leave it alone...😚😁👍
Thank you Samsung!!!
